Hello everyone! Tioday mailman brought ym first Schrade the 34OT

It was about $32 with shipping.

Here are pictures after working hard: I had to straighten carefully the speyblade which had prnounce swing to the left hand side. The main blade had small partion rolled over so I hard to straighten it. You heard grounding sound when opening the blades (that was taken care by some WD40).

The speyblade was nearly shaving sharp as it came but sheepshoof and mainblade were as dull as my paperknife. Sheeps hoof tip has been rounded by use I presume

Spings had some redrust, I got ridd of it and red rust on elsewhere. I left the black spots etc.

Springs are cleaning red rust away.

It took my an hour to sharopen sheepshoof for some reason. Now its nice and sharp, though not as sharp as speyblade and mainblade. Speyblade and main blade has pronounce snap when closed or opened. Sheepshoof has lesser. Sheeps hoof rides high. Oh, well no knife can be perfect.

I do love this knife. It feels good and took nice edges on blades after while. Bit elbow grease and loving tender made this very nice carry knife.

Nice job on the cleanup, the 34OT is the perfect carrying size for me. Take care of it and it will last you the rest of your life.

That is a very nice looking knife. I found a new in plastic minuteman with carbon blades for $20 shipped. I wanted it so I got it. It was my first Schrade and I love it. Good job!

I came accress some Parker-Frost knives which are sold as circa 1978. They're sold as Parker-Frost knives, circa 1978 made by Schrade. They're sold as used item's but knives are mint or near mint but boxes have self wear.

I did quick googling and Parker-Frost did business from 1972-1978. Never heard of company much but such price I might pull on trigger on Large Stockman, medium lockback or regular trapper to feel the pattern.

But has anyone any idea if they really are made Schrade in the 70's and such?

I think I'll pull on trigger with Large stockman and see how quality is myself as they sell cheaper those than Case Medium stockmen I don't see I have much to lose.

My boss carries a 34OT.Nice knife. The sheepsfoot sits proud on certain brand stockmans. It's actually a feature I like in some.

Schrade made this full-size stockman for Parker, with genuine bone handles. It is exactly the same knife as the Schrade 881 and the 8OT (Old Timer). The rear tang says 78-2. They also made a trapper with a raccoon etch and a muskrat with a mink etch, to match this bison etch. All of them have the 78 tang stamp and bone handles and are 1095 steel, the same as your 34OT.

Hi,

That's a nice one! You're going to enjoy it. The Sheepsfoot blade does sit high on the Schrades. So that's normal. May be if you give a quick stropping on your pant leg, it might help your edge. It's what I do.

If you do a search for Parker-Frost here you can come up with some interesting information. Schrade did make some knives for them back in the day. I don't know what they might be worth though.

That's a really nice knife "thejamppa". Thanks for the nice report. Great cleanup job.

Thanks you all! Thanks tongueriver. Looks like I'm about to increase my schrade collection soon again.

Congrats! I've been meaning to get a Schrade soon but I'm not sure which one. How's the F&F? And wiggle?

No wiggle in these. Blades rub bit together but its acceptable for user knife. Minor gaps between springs and brass liners but I've seen way much worse.
