Well, over here in Australia, we don't see many Seb's, they are a very rare beast indeed. However, I took the plunge, and got myself not one, but two Seb's - a large Lignum and a large African Blackwood. Recently bought myself a new digital camera as well so took the time to take a decent photo ...

Nice knives...and a very nice watch!

Now you need to pick one of the sebs for heavy duty use and one to keep somewhat nice. Which one will it be?

I am going to use them both! Before receiving them, I was thinking of making them shelf queens as they are far and away the most expensive knives I own. After receiving them though, I am now of the opinion that they are too nice NOT to be used! They will become my daily users, rotated with my Ritter grips and the odd Spydie. Am already saving up for another Seb!

Just got my first as well.Took delivery a week ago of a small classic Sebenza with African Blackwood inlays.Mine is a user too.

Beautiful knives caryyee.:)

Wow buying two Sebs at a time...that is a novelty that I could definitely live with. Too bad my wallet couldn't though.

Yep, love my watches too! They are a truly expensive hobby though! Use to have a Rolex, several other IWC's etc and had my eye on Blancpain, AP, JLC and a lower end PP but sold most of them to put more of a deposit on my house! The IWC in the photo is solid titanium and so suited inclusion in the pic. Next Sebbie will be a small one, maybe a unique CG such as a night sky (my favourite) or a dog paw that Plaza Cutlery have a few of. The wallet's taken a hammering though, hope to have my next one within the next 3-4 months ......

I had to do a Google search on those IWC watches. They are worth a heavy coin! I never heard of them until tonight. Cool watch and Sebenza knives. I just added to my collection of Sebenza knives tonight. Acquired a large Regular Sebenza with micarta inlays and partially serrated blade. I thought the partially serrated edges looked cool on the Sebenza.

Ah yes, discounted they start from around $2500 and they go up and up and up from there. You think the limited edition Seb's are expensive? How about the limited edition IWC Grand Complication. They make approx 50 of them a year ... see http://www.finestwatches.com/iwc-11155.html for an example. This one is for sale at $215K !!! And even that is small change compare to ebay item 320039469341, a Patek Philippe for a Buy It Now price of 485,000 Euro! Knives are a much much less expensive hobby ..

Arrgghhh nice knives and an even nicer watch! I have a couple of Sebs but the IWC is out of my watch-buying price range. My Universal Geneve and TAG were much less coin. Heck my last two watches were Casios but I love 'em!

That Ligmum Vitae is my fave wood (my Mnandi has it) and I love the dark woods too and the only way (for me) that the dark one could be improved is by Ebony.

Yes use the Sebs. They were never designed to be non-use collectors.

What cam did you buy by the way? I can only guess!

Replying to your earlier reply...Yeah, I have two IWC's, a JLC, a Lange and a Panerai in addition to some "lesser" watches. Almost went the PP route too until sanity set in. I have been selling watches and guitars lately to subsidize knives like the Sebenza and college for my oldest kid. My hobbies have been expensive but I have gained some and lost some and find myself about even or slightly ahead as I sell them.

It has been a fun ride and I still am buying Sebenzas and Bark Rivers. Looking for a mammoth ivory regular large one right now.

Cheers.

Sigh, a Lange ....
Also love the Panerai's but my wrist is a little small for them ... the IWC Doppel was as big as I can comfortably go. The AP T3 Royal Oak was another I lusted after but you need Arnie size arms for fit that ... thats why they named it after him I guess ...
