Give myself a retirement gift when I retired from the school system. Could not carry a knife at the schools. Now I have to decide what sharpening system to get for the Sebenza, kitchen knives and my other knives. Enjoying the knife so far.

Congrats. Great choice for your first CRK (there will be others, trust me). Beautiful knife.

Very nice!

Welcome to Bladeforums!

 Wow, what a beauty!

Another good choice is the Spyderco Sharpmaker or the Apex EdgePro.

Beautiful CRK! Excellent choice for your first one.

CRK recommends the Spyderco Sharpmaker. I use it for all my knives. Best (unguided, no guide rods or clamps) sharpening system I've used yet.

If you like guided systems, Lansky, Wicked Edge and Edge Pro Apex are excellent.

Edge Pro Apex can be a bit of a challenge for some as it uses guide rods, but no clamp to hold the blade in place.

Welcome to our forum!:)

Congratulations on your retirement! Very nice knife Sir!
You can't go wrong with the Spider could system.

the wicked edge is the ultimate if you don't mind the price... nothing else compares to it...

Sebenza come from factory with a convex grind so you can't get it hair popping sharp with stones without reprofiling the edge to a V grind.

Welcome to BFC fuelboat!!!!!!
You didn't beat around the bush on your first CRK. Gorgeous Unique you chose.

As far as a sharpening system, get what your budget allows, learn to get good with what you have, after all, you're retired now. It's not like you have to go to work:). Then, if you want to upgrade you'll have a good idea on what you want next for a sharpening system and you won't spend money unnecessarily.
I would suggest that whatever system you choose, use a sharpie to make sure you're following the factory edge.
I've learned over the years to free hand decently and still use a sharpie to check myself.
Personally, I use both the lansky and KME system, they're good enough for the degree of sharpness I am happy with.

I went with the Wicked Edge Field and Sport Pro system. Have been using it on my every day knifes, getting used it to before I try it on the Sebenza. Thanks for all the comments.

I can't think of a single really good reason to buy a guided system. ...maybe to play around with different angles and know exactly what you are going with? Personally I've never found myself wanting less than 30 or more than 40. Get a Sharpmaker and the diamond stones and be done with it!

I sharpen my 21 freehand on DMT diamond hones. Takes a hair-popping edge and holds it. Congrats on your new blade.
