So I bought my first high end knife a couple weeks ago through one of the authorized dealers. Its a beautiful knife all around. Its born on date is Nov 5th 2012 so it looks like it sat unsold for awhile. Its a unique graphic with raindrop damascus.

I bought this knife with the full intent to use it as a edc. I took off the clip and put it in its leather sheath it came with to protect it from my keys. After carrying it like this for a couple weeks I came to the realization that I much rather carry it clipped to my pants. Its way more accessible that way.

My concern is if I carry it that way it will get all scratched up fairly quickly. So I am just trying to decide if I should just get over it, keep it in the sheath, or put it in the safe to be admired by me.

So far I have used it for a few minor tasks and attempted to sharpen it with my sharpmaker.

Here is a Picture from a happy proud new owner.

I would work it into my rotation but only carry it when dressed nicer. I typically do not worry about scratches too much but that's me. If you are worried about it then get a regular small seb and only carry this one on special occasions in the leather sheath.

If you wear a belt, you can get a belt sheath. I carry all my sebenza's in a pocket sheath. It took me some time to get used to the sheath. Yeah, it's more of a chore to get it out, but it gives me a warm fuzzy knowing I'm not scratching it up.
It would be a crying shame to have a first high end knife sit in a safe and not be used. I'd say use the pocket sheath, to protect it from getting marked up. When your budget allows, get a plain and use that beautiful knife for off day carry.
I just don't have a lot of confidence in a pocket clip on any knife. I'm sure they're good, I just don't carry with the clip.

Thanks guys, so it looks like the best suggestion is to buy another Chris Reeve knife. Not a bad idea, these things are addicting.

I carry all of mine in the leather sheath. I do not care if they get scratched up, I just like the look of them in supple leather. I think they like it too. It keeps them warm on those cold winter nights.

Seriously though, do not be afraid of using it. It will get scratched and banged up, but it will still last you a lifetime. Someday you will be able to pass it on to someone and they will admire your knife with all of its beauty marks.

Very nice knifes. I already showed the knife to its future recipient, my 4 year old son, needless to say he was excited. Looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
