Hi all,
Back in the days - 1995-1996 (I was in my twenties) - the Sebenza was already a reference in the knife world.
Ever since I saw it in a catalog, I kinda knew the Sebbie would be somewhere, sometime in my future. One part of me (called "ignorance")
was wondering what exactly commanded a "high" price compared to similar looking knives (I don't remember many at the time), but another
part (called "logic") tought that if the Sebenza were selling, then it was priced OK.
Fast forward to 2008, pretty good financial situation, full-time job, I started reading regularly what was posted on this very forum.
I heard people delighted with the Sebenza, heard "when you hold one in your hand, you understand..." type of comments, I see
owners posting questions, read the FAQ, etc... Yes, I see through it clearly today, I was bitten by the Sebenza bug.
During a trip to Providence RI, I had the chance to closely examine both the regular and the classic.
To tell the truth, I found them very nice, but I wasn't enthusiastic about them. I thought to myself "Good! I can now forget about the
damn thing, and be satisfied for the rest of my life with my other folders!"...yeah, right.
I tried to stay strong, and resist the urge...you all know what I mean. But then, one small micarta was calling my name on the exchange!
How can one resist! Before I realized it, I was the new owner of a previously loved small classic micarta Sebbie (thanks Razor). It took me a little
while to get used to it, but it quickly became my constant companion. The action is so smooth, and the lock-up so rock solid, I couldn't put it away.
What a nice tool!
Not long after that, a large BG-42 regular showed up on the exchange as well...snap, sweetie, here's your older sister (thanks Fedknifelover).
I now find myself regularly carrying my two Sebs at work, at home, everywhere. I'm very happy with both of my purchases and the knives
are just perfect. Thank you CRK for making such a top notch product!
Free Seb pron...enjoy:
Take care all!
