I wanted a carbon fixed blade for camping and general use, but the knifes on the market for me are to expensive, not carbon steel or too tactical.
I wanted a classic knife, like a bowie.

Like I can't forge, I bought a finnish Leuku blade by Lauri.

blade: Lauri Carbon - Leuku
lenght: 17.5m
width: 38mm
total lenght: ca 300cm
Guard & ferrule: steel
handle: curly birch (stils to do)

after 3 hors on the grinding weel and sandpaper.. the blade is ready

The guard and ferrule are made from 6mm and 8mm steel, filing, filing, filing..

the guard is ready..

the ferrule is ready (each took about 3 hours)

Still have to put a nice patina on the steel parts, next weekend the handle and glueing everything together..

Keep going, great big bowie blade, I like the size, shape and grind. You put a strong tang on it, good to see. Would like to see it finished with the handle on, well done so far.

thanks so far!
I'll keep on posting when I get on with it.
It's a little shameless to post side by side to the artwork we're used on this forum, but my project is LOW BUDGET ;)
23€ so far

btw. the blade is really thin, it's about 3,2mm (about 0.13") - but like leukus are made for hard outdoor use, I hope it will stand up well!
