Greetings, everyone. Obviously I'm new here, and this is my first post. I've always had an interest in knives and swords, and axes... okay, okay, anything with a blade, really... but never had what I would call a top-notch knife, except for my USMC KA-BAR. As far as pocket knives go, I've had a Buck 110, which I loved, until I snapped the blade (still have to send that in to get fixed), and a Buck 345, which I also love, and still use intermittently. Right now I'm using a SOG Trident, though I'm not really sure, yet, if I like it enough to keep it as my main pocket knife.
But, anyway, my oldest son has been expressing more and more of an interest in camping and hunting, so I've been looking into higher quality hunting / survival / utility knives, and came across the BK2 and BK9. After seeing BRab's "Putting the BK2 to the test" thread, I decided that I just had to have one. As fortune would have it, I just happened to come into enough extra cash to buy a BK2 and a BK9. I haven't had a chance to go out and play with them, yet, but I'm looking forward to when I do get the opportunity. Though I can't complain, yet, about the stock sheaths, I've been impressed by all the custom sheaths that I've seen here, on the forum, and elsewhere (I'm absolutely in love with Nix Leather's BK9 sheath on YouTube!!!), so I decided I'd try my hand at crafting a sheath. My boys were spending the night at friends' houses, so I had a night all to myself. What better time to give it a go? So, I sat down and got to work.
Now, it's not the most beautiful piece of work, but I like how it came out. This is my first attempt at making a sheath, and my first real project made out of leather. It took me about 5 hours to make it. Most of that time was sitting there, looking at the leather, and trying to figure out just how to accomplish what I wanted to do. So, here it is...
