my first sheath

I started with David Farmer's simple leather sheath, and wet-formed it to the knife. Then I tooled a bit. After the leather dried, I painted the leather with frankincense rosin dissolved in alcohol, a kind of natural lacquer. This helped to harden the leather some, and also left the white deposits in the tooling marks.

The woked sheath is on the left, David's basic sheath on the right.

Great frontier look. The white deposits give it a southwestern desert feeling.
