Well I finally got off my more than ample backside and made my first slip joint.A special thanks to Johnny Roberts for putting up with all my inane questions.
Well here it is. A shadow pattern saddle horn trapper.
Blade and back spring 3/32" ATS 34. .032 Stainless liners and .090 G10 scales which makes it only 5/16" thick.Blade sits dead center and the back spring is within .010 in all three positions not bad for a line on a board for set up.Gotta make a dial indicator jig.
Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome on how I can do better.
Stan

Stan,

Congrats on your first slip joint, I bet you learned a lot....:D

All I can say to do better is keep making them.

This one looks like it turned out pretty good? for a first....:)

Look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks Todd,Yes I did learn quite a bit,the workings of a slip joint are quite a challenge to get correct.

Congradulations Stan. I'm trying to work up the nerve to try one. May I ask what kind if pivot you used?

Thats a great looking knife, especially for your first slip joint . Keep it up, very cool.

Nice work. They tend to stress you out as each one fits different than the one before. Keep making them.

Thanks Guys.
Darrin the pivot is just a 3/32" SS pin that has bronze washers on the ouside like a sodbuster.

Thanks for the nice words Guys.

zaph,it's just liner blade liner.,on my next one I'm gonna mill the liners. This one started out as an experiment and actually wound up with a nice knife.

Having not long started making slippies myself (8months)all I can say is what a cracker ,well done Stan and keep them coming !
