this is my first slippie, i love the practicality and form of a good swayback, so i decided to try it out for myself. but i dont like the fact that slippies are not dismantleable. so i give to you the first takedown slipjoint. other firsts in this are the use of s35vn for the spring and blade. they work really well and smooth in my opinion. and overall, i tried to modernize the looks and style of a slipjoint with some 21st century materials and textures.

-OAL 8 1/8 inches
-closed 4 3/4
-blade 3 1/2 inches
-s35vn spring and blade hrc 60
-ti liners
-orange g10 scales
-phosphore bronze bushings
-the spring is almost perfectly smooth in all 3 positions

Really great first effort Peter. Would like to see some photos of the spring and joint work as well.:thumbup:

AWESOME KNIFE I really like the fact that you can take it apart, theres nothing worse that a pocket knife with crap stuck in it thats hard to clean out. I am in the process of making my first slipjoint as well.

Man I thought I was the only one who thought of a take down slippie! Oh well... You did a great job on that. I really like the texturing on the handles. I am going to start work on my first one as well.

thanks guys,

the blade is 1/8 thick. as for the takedown, its useful for cleaning yes, but its not easy to get back together. the spring is under a bit of tention so once apart the pivot and front pin go in easy peasy. but the back pin can only go in when the lockbar is flexed up enough to expose the hole. i use a bench clamp and it goes in easy enough.

this is just fyi for you guys trying to make a takedown slippie. dont expect it to be a simple matter of dropping in the bolts and then tightening.
