i carved the entire spoon with only my Becker Bk11 necker. no curved blade, so the bowl is shallow. <a little over a 1/4th inch>

Very cool - I like that you stuck with just the one knife for the whole project. I did my first with a BK-2 - my bowl is pretty shallow too. :-D

thanks to everyone for the feed back. i feel really good for it being my first.more coming in the next few weeks.

anyone have any other EASY wood carving project?

Just how easy was that?
Making an oar isn't the simplest thing in the world to do, this reminded me of that.
Seriously, I'm a bit envious of your skills with a knife - I got dues to pay.
I bet you could whip out a pretty nice chess set.

What about a 3 prong fork, same size as the spoon. Would be perfect for salad serving ;)
You just need to fire harden that baby and it will be ready to use.

it was really easy. this was my escape between all my school work.:)
i had to scar the wood and dig it down for the bowl. i think it would have been even easier with the right tools <it always is..>. BK11 is no carving knife, but it holds a place in my pack. its my favorite:thumbup:

bro i was thinking of my next spoon being about 2 feet long. i think it would be too cool. ill have to try a chess set in a month or two.

that is going to be a weekend project, make a whole dinner set. i'll steal my ladyfriend's camera and post some pics.

If you get around to it, post a couple pics of the way you cut between each of the prongs. I'd be interested in seeing how it comes out.
