Hi all, just wanted to share the stoke. I have a spyderco dragonfly 2 salt arriving on Saturday and I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! Hehe. I hope I'm not disappointed! I have been using a benchmade mini grip my father gave me. I always kind of liked the look of benchmades more, but since I started lurking around the forums, I have heard so many raving reviews of spydercos knives that I had to see what all the fuss was about!

Ultimately, I chose to give spyderco a shot because I needed a fishing knife here on the pacific and the salt line specs won me over. I'm still a little surprised with myself that I chose to go with the dragonfly over the pacific or the salt 1. The ergonomics just look so "right" on that little knife. Looks like the design should give a ton of blade control and precision. I don't know, it was kind of just a gut feeling and I went with it! I just hope it's big enough to suit my needs, we will see. I've heard a lot of people comment that it performs like a bigger knife.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to the spyderco forum! Hopefully I will be a happy owner and participant in here! I'll give my impressions when the knife arrives.

P.S. my buddy is bringing this down from the states. I never actually had the chance to handle any of these knives in person, and I haven't held ANY spyderco in 20 years so my decision was a leap of faith that was HUGELY influenced by the opinions of many users here on bf! So you guys will get all the credit or all the blame! Hehe...lets hope it's the former!

Congrats!

Like you, I just got my first Spyderco - a digicamo Military w/black blade - on Thursday. Also have a Dragonfly Tattoo coming in Tuesday. I've already got a pretty good representation of Bucks and Kershaws, but new to Spyderco. I have about 5 on my current wishlist so I'll be buying a few more as time goes on.

Yeah, i hear u! I'm already eyeing the manix 2. This could get expensive!! ;-). I'm going to take it easy though and see how I get along with the dragonfly first.

You wont be disappointed. The whole salt line is the bomb. Did you get serrated or plain edge?

I got the plain edged on this one. I like combo blades fine, but I've never been a big fan of full serrated. Also, I imagine that this knife will be my edc a lot of the time too. I've gotten into the habit of wearing my knife on a cord around my neck. It worked great for fishing and I'm so comfortable with it, it's become my edc method. Been using the mini grip, so with the dragonfly being slightly smaller and less than half the weight...if it turns out to be a functional knife, it might end up hanging around my neck more often than the mini grip!

Shoot, I only paid $45! If I need the serrated ill just buy that too and hang em both around my neck! ;-)

I have two Manix 2's one in black with partial serations and another in satin they are great knives I recommend buying them from bladehq.com I got them for around $100 dollars I think they make great knives

Cool mason, I am definitely thinking about the manix. Leaning toward the lightweight. I like the lightness for neck carry and I think the steel they use in that one is pretty corrosion resistant. That wouldn't be my fishing knife, but everything tends to rust down here in the tropics whether you fish with it or not. Do you like the half serrated? I have been using plain edges lately and haven't felt like im missing out on anything, but maybe I would like having that half serrated edge.
