Short intro: Never been much of a Spyderco fan, even if the quality of each and every Spyderco I ever held was beyond reproach. My ex-girlfriend (now wife ;)) once gave me a small Spyderco folder with an open frame and blade, it was made exclusively for Beversport, a large outdoors equipment chain in the Netherlands.
For a very long time, it was the only knife of theirs I ever owned. The trademark design just never did anything for me.
Then, about a year ago, I bought a Byrd, and because they were so cheap and well-made I bought a few more.

Then, about half a year or so ago I bought a Dayhiker. The design totally appealed to me, and I wanted to try its steel. I also bought the latest Mule, and about three months ago I bought the Rock Salt. Another amazing fixed blade by Spyderco, but I still owned only the tiny folder (not counting the Byrds).

A week ago I found myself being left with nothing but the Byrd Cara-Cara in FRN to EDC, and it really surprised me in a positive way. Now I like big folders, and to me the Cara-Cara is at the low end of what I usually carry, sizewise. So I wanted something similar, but bigger, and better steel, better handle material. And I ended up ordering a Police 3 G-10. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this will be the first Spyderco folder I will have bought myself. I was already close to the decision, but Nutnfancy's review of it clinched it for me. I'd like to hear other people's experience with this blade, even though I am not at all worried about its quality and performance.

And now, as luck would have it, Sal Glesser and other Spyderco people will hold a mini-meet in Amsterdam, my home town. I now run a risk of becoming a Spyderco convert! ;)

Anyway. Please talk about the Police 3 G-10. :)

IMO Spyderco is always at the forefront. They have the most ergonomic knives and the most innovative designs in production folders. Everytime I've tried to talk someone into a Spyderco the only reservation they may have is the unique aesthetics--not the fit and finish. Once they become familiarized with how ergonomic they are, they have all become converts. All of my EDCs are Paramilitaries and Delicas now.

Join the club. Once you get a Spyderco, it's hard to keep buying other brands. Their quality, materials, fit/finish, and overall company ethic are above almost everybody else, especially in a production company.

When I got my first Spyderco, I immdiately bought 5 more because I was so impressed, and like always, every new Spyderco impresses me more. They are at the forefront of new innovative knives/steels, and have become my main #1 knife brand.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

And the Police 3 is a sexy over sized, over built knife with great ergoes.

Unfortunately it was just too big & heavy for me and I am not a big fan of the back/mid lock (personal choice!).

Like you, I was resistant to Spyderco's aesthetics. But I heard SOOOOOOOO many good things about the Military that I broke down and bought one. Wow! What a nice knife. I EDC it now and have bought more than 70 Spydies and 11 Byrds over the past year. I'm officially hooked.
