I was in need of a new folder that I can EDC to work M-F where I'm limited by law to a blade length <2.5". I looked around for a while and ultimately decided that I need a Spyderco in the collection.
Blade lockup is nice and solid, no play. It was pretty sharp out of the box but I touched it up on the Sharpmaker (also new to me, and easy to use) and it now has a razor edge.
Between the G-10 and the jimping, there will be no grip slip with this one. A lot of people aren't in love with foliage green and there seems to be a big trend towards orange lately, but I'd never buy an orange pocket EDC as I prefer to keep things a little less obvious. The wire clip is also less conspicuous hanging out of the pocket than a regular flat clip. It was really tight out of the box, in fact I had to loosen it just a hair to be able to easily clip it into my jeans pocket.
The knife's small size, the hole placement, and the tight pivot (smooth, but tight) make it a bit difficult for me to open one-handed in a smooth fluid motion, but maybe I just need to practice. I'm trying not to loosen the pivot yet so we'll see if it gets easier over time.
It's a small knife but grip is good enough in my hands. I can get 3 fingers around the handle, and even most of my pinky finger if I choke up on the blade. Those with fat fingers may not get their last little piggy wrapped around it.
My ideal EDC would be a bit longer, but I've got to be legal and the Dragonfly fits in under 2.5". It seems to be very well built, locks up solid and feels good in the hand for a knife of its size. I will enjoy carrying this one.
