My first Spyderco Knife!

Well I was at work today (small mom and pop restaurant.) and there’s been a spyderco in the lost and found bucket for a while now. Probably close to 2 months. We are on a major path to the closest big lake.

I finally asked my boss about it. And he said he didn’t know. Probably got left behind in a booth. I mentioned it had been there for a while. And shot out the offer to buy it. (As it had been a while.) my boss is a very awkward and shy guy. He continues “I don’t like it up there and no one has called for it. You can have it.”

I’ve never messed with Spyderco personally. I believe it’s a Paramilitary 3. Looks like someone wasn’t quite sure how to sharpen the blade. So I have to clean that up. Clip shows carry wear. But that’s about it. Overall can’t complain especially for the price!

Haha thanks. I told my boss if someone does come looking for it. I have it. But it’s been months. If I misplaced a knife like this, I’d be sick to my stomach until I tracked it down

Yea. I’ve never had much interest in spyderco. Mostly due to the price. (I find Kershaw’s USA offerings to be very good for the price.) And if I were to spend that kind of money, I find the Benchmade offerings a bit more appealing. But that’s me personally.

But I’ll carry it to give it a fair shake. Worst case. It’s definitely a cool piece to add to the collection. I will say one of my favorite BM is the mini grip with the hole. Which was probably “borrowed” from Spyderco. The para 3 is a nice “big brother” to that. And I do like the compression lock up top. Never had one like that. I do tend to fidget a lot. So I like the Axis or crossbar locks myself.

A couple days in. I can’t say I’d rush out to buy another Spyderco. (Maybe if I stumble across a different offering for a good price) but there are some aspects that I do really enjoy.

I have a buddy who swears by the Paramilitary 2. He claims it’s a bigger knife (obviously) but it seems to carry smaller than the Para 3. Which he had to explain his logic 🤣. Apparently there’s not much weight difference. And for that reason he figured he may as well carry the PM2. Which I can see that. But I actually love the size of the Para3. Definitely have to get a deep carry clip for it.

One of my all time favorite knives is actually the Kershaw Leek. Nice size/weight. But horrible for tip up carry. Leaves a lot sticking out. And I’ve had a few fall out of my pocket, largely due to that factor. I wonder if I’ll have the same issue with the stock clip on the Para 3. Makes me curious as to if that’s how it came to be mine

The lost one shows up, right after you buy another to replace it!
 
So I finally got around to showing this knife some love. And realized. Someone molested the blade. It doesn’t have the Para 3 belly. (As I said above. I’ve never messed with any Spyderco before)

It almost looks like someone tried to put a recurve on it.
