I spent the last year using a Manix2. I own and operate a landscape maintenance company. I used it almost everyday at work. It cut branches, palm fronds, bamboo, sod, packages, zip ties, metal strapping. It dug dirt, pried bricks, rocks and boards. I tried not to destroy it, but didnt baby it at all either. I also used the Tasman Salt it does a great job on pull cutting vines and certain lighter palm pieces.
Here is my original thread from last year.

I have really come to like the blade steel. It holds an edge long enough for me. It can be touched up quick and easy or fully resharpened without any difficulty but a bit more time.
This year I bought a Superleaf on closeout, but it has just sat in a drawer. I never got used to the lock.
I also bought 5 UKPK's that I gave as gifts. They are great knives, but havent bought one for myself yet.

Here is a pick of the Manix2 as it sits today. Hardly used, it looks as if it could handle 50 more years.

Good stuff. Curious if you have thought about carrying a fully serrated manix? A lot of the tasks you describe seem prime for a spydie edge and I see you like them.

Nice post! It's good to read about them being used the way they deserve to be used!

rockgolfer, yep I have thought about the serrated version. After using the Tasman I find the serrated edges hang up on many of the heavier palm fibers where a sharp plain edge slices right through. I also thought about the Sprint Dyad, but I think the Manix2 with the Tasman as back up is better than I have ever had it as far as quick easy to reach tools go.

Right on Don

I have looked at the tasman for backup role as well. Need to just get a serrated spydie and carry it for awhile. Appreciate the great feedback and great writeup on your experiences.
