Hey, I just got my first Spyderco! Well, technically it's my second as I bought my wife a burgundy micarta Jester. My new, favorite folder is a Native FRN. What an awesome design! I love the handle shape, blade shape, Spydie hole, even the lockback.
Way to go Spyderco. Err...well, I guess you guys already knew this! :rolleyes:

There are many that love this design from Spyderco. One of my favorite too!!! Spyderco make the best serrations...
 
When I got my FRN Native 35/65, I had the same fascination with it as you, SharpBits. I carry it as a backup EDC to my Military. It's an excellent "little big knife". ;)
 
oh man.. after waiting 2 weeks for the native I returned to be replaced, the moment is nearing! my should arrive on wednesday and I can't wait! the two days I had the knife before sending it back in(it had obviously been used. it was scratched up pretty bad) was enough to hook me. my serrated calypso jr is going to have to play backup to my plainedge native.


[edit] i got it about 8 minutes ago. its just so nice. much more authoritive feeling than the calypso. the calypso jr just says lightweight cutting to me, with its thin blade and handle. the native is much beefier and thicker and a bit heavier. very reassuring grip. also, the CPM 440V seems to not shine so much. the calypso almost has a mirror polish on it and it shows finger prints incredible well. this knife has a deep lustre but it doesn't show fingerprints nearly so badly.
 
I have carried my Native for a few days now (replacing all my other "EDCs") and I just noticed that something is missing! All the scratches and torn flesh that my other knives were leaving on my hand. With the Native, I can fish around for my keys or change and never, ever get scratched. Who designed the Native? Whoever it is deserves kudos and a big raise!
