Well, finally after almost 20 years of knife hobbying I went ahead and bought my first Spyderco. The reason I waited so long is that I never did like the idea of a blade with a hole in it. However now that I bought my first Spydie, I know I'll get more. I bought a Ladybug (in my opinion the perfect keyring knife), and I love it! It is screaming sharp and now I know why there's so many people that love Spydies. I don't even like serrated edges on my blades, but Spyderco undoubtably has the best serrated edges ever, and I am surely starting to like serrated edges since my ladybug is half serrated and I think it's a spectacular tiny knife. I think I'm hooked...:D

Say your prayers. The Spydie bug have bitten, and you shall not stop to buy more Spydies.

- Calyth the seriously infected ;)

Howdy Volvi - and yes, welcome to the spydieholic club.

I started out slow - between 1992 and 2002 bought a total of five spydies - two of those to replace spydies I had lost. Then I made the aquaintance of some other spydieholics when I was looking to find a Starmate or a Military. I ended up getting both - and the Military in two flavors.

After that.... well after that it was all downhill.

Lets see, that was about seven months, and about two dozen new spydies ago (counting seven I gave as gifts this Christmas) - and I have another seven inbound from current orders.

Oh, lord help me, for I can't stop buying the little bugs. Ummmm.... and the bigger bugs too :D

Well, now that you have one of the smallest Spydies, you'll need to buy one of the largest; A Police model.:).

Yes, go for the police, its THE spyderco knife.Or you can be adventerous and go for a civillian or the new spyderhawk.

Congrats on getting your first spydie.

What Spydie are you going to buy next :D

When you get used to the hole its is very hard to change back to anything else.If you want to really get hooked on the spydie get a Military.Congrats and welcome.Perpare to be pennyless.
They stab it with there steely knives but they just can't kill the beast.

Noob here! I am just getting into folders...instantly taken to the Spyderco for some reason. By the way everyone talks about these...it looks like i have damn good instincts. I have found myself glued to my computer for the last 5 days, searching the earth for the best prices and all the diff models. I think i have made my choice...the police, plain blade with stainless handle. It just like the looks of it, since i have never held one. Looks like it feels damn nice in your hands though.Taking in everyones knowledge has been very helpful, and if anyone has any suggestions that might help me, feel free.
My reason for getting into folders is mainly for fast protection. My wife, two small daughters and i spend alot of time in the woods hiking. Where i'm from is the highest cougar population in North America, so i want a knife thats very fast and damn sharp....but also hidden in my pocket. So i think i'm making the right choice. i'm a brand new member and look forward to absorbing all your info:)

Good luck against the cougars. Just get a Himalayan Imports Khukuri. That would make mincemeat outta them thar cougars. Have you looked into the Spydie Chinook? That is a serious blade and it sounds like you might need it out there. GL!

May I suggest a .357 Magnum or better??
(Unless you're really good at knife-throwing) :footinmou

i was thinkin grenades...but that takes the fun out of it.
I live on Vancouver island, a couple months back an older man was attacked by a cougar and had to use two hands to open his buck knife while the cougar was chewing on his head for lunch. He eventually got the thing open and slit it's throat while it was on his back. The old guy lived, but in the time he was fighting with his knife, he coulda been saving his scalp if he had a folder or fixed blade. Apparently every knife store on the island offered him a free knife.
