I bought a Centofante III last week and am in love! It went with me on a long southwestern road/camping trip and I slowly got it loosened up. It is, bar none, the sharpest knife out-of-box that I've ever owned. Not so much razor sharp as SCALPEL sharp!

I liked the look of the Jester, Lum, and Persian but the size or price were just wrong for the moment. The Centofante was definitely the ticket. Not a utility blade so much as an elegant slicer. After a week to get used to it, it gave me some comfort as I walked around Ciudad Juarez.

Thanks for all of the reviews and information posted by the Spyderco fans. It helped make the purchase a no-brainer.

Can I stop at just one?

glad you like your new knife, the centofante III does pack a lot of slice. It is a nice knife.

And no, you cant stop at one.

Hell no, you can't stop at one. There are a lot of Spydies have really good prices, and before you know it, you'll have 2 or 3 more, just because you had a little cash burning a hole in your wallet.

That's what happened to me. Anyway, congrats! :)

Welcome to the Spyderco collecting club! If you're like the most us, you're not gonna stop at one. Once one bites you and you like it, you're just gonna need more and more.

Hi Paddling_man. Congrats on your purchase. The Centofante is a very refined design. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Any bets on what's next? A Delica? Native?

Wasn't there an older series of Persian that wasn't micarta?

Definately a Calypso Jr. - feels wonderful in the hand and cuts like a razor.

A Sharpmaker if you don't have one allready. And an Endura SE or Dodo SE or............. :D

Aloha Paddling_Man!

Right on man!!! That Cento III is awesome IMHO also! Now, please go over to the other Spydie Forum and tell Outlaw about your CentoIII!!! ;-)

God bless and enjoy!

Daywalker - The other Spydie forum??

I've got a different brand of guided sharpener with three separate grits of diamond embedded stone. I'll have to look at a Sharpmaker.

I do like the look of the Dodo and I'm going to check into a Calypso Jr. :D

Thx!

Paddling man,
Daywalker is referring to the forums on www.spyderco.com. Feel free to stop by and take a look. Many members are in both forums.

Congrats on your new Centofante III!

Safong - well, I guess you were right.

A new PE FRN Calypso Jr today. Laying next to the keyboard.

"Hello, my name is Stacey and I have a problem..."

We love you Stacey :D :D :D

The "problem" is bad news. It can't be cured, drains your bank account, causes you pile up the knives. In extreme cases it has lead to financial and matrimonial difficulties, but no, there is no cure :p

Damn... I just received a used Endura PE SS... Much bigger than I expected but very, very solid and respectable. One I'm comfortable using for things I wouldn't think of with the centofante. (The Centofante III is still my favorite, though.) I've carried it for a couple of days and I really like it.

It continues... [sigh]
