I just ordered my first Spyderco knife, and I thought I'd turn to this subforum for reassurance on my selection. I wanted a good representation of a "classic" Spyderco design, but wanted some new steel. So, I went with a Flat ground Endura with ZDP-189 plain edge. What do you think??

P.S. This is the last knife I'm going to buy this year...

I have one of those, it's a monster of a slicer.

I say that every time I buy a new knife, my wife never believes it.

I have had my spyderco Endura G-2 for over twenty years now. Out of my 30 or so budget knives, it is still my favorite carry knife. Still no rust spots!
I am really impressed with the ZDP. Unbeatable knife for the price:85-90$. Even though the more expensive Spydercos are awesome knives, for me they are just too expensive to beat up. I would just leave them in their boxes. Give me a flat ground VG-10 (57$)and I will use the hell out of it with no regrets. I am definately set in my ways and probably don't represent the majority view. LOL!

The Endura is pretty high on my wish list. I think you'll be very satisfied with it, regardless of what you plan to do with it.

I was too distracted by your truck to read the post. That Raptor is sweet Tony!

Thanks! I'm taking it out to Wyoming,SD,and ND for some offroading in a couple of weeks. I've only had it off road a little since I got it in February. It drives better than it looks!

I did slip up and order another knife...a Byrd Cara Cara for $25...I thought I'd try one out since they are always mentioned in the "cheaper" knife discussion.

Tony -- I'm sorry -- you made a bad choice getting the Endura --- its just going to lead to more Spydercos.
Endura was one of my first and I still use it regularly.

+1 on the Raptor. Saw one in town the other day with 22" rims and I cringed. Glad to see you're using it like it was built.

Tony,

Spyderco makes great knives. I've got around a dozen and like them all. I would also like to recommend the Sage I or II (if you like Ti) and the Para 2 for consideration for your next Spydie purchases. Since I know you like knives, you'll almost certainly buy more models. My last Spyderco purchase was the Superleaf...you should put that one on your list too!!

Thanks for the tip Flatlander. I was looking around the house and found some extra money, so I ordered a Para 2 this morning. This will probably be my last one.
