i own alotta different knives (mostly Buck, Beckers and Benchmade), and i got to thinking yesterday "why no Spydercos?", so i went online and ordered this knife.... http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Cat-G-10-Folding-Knife--9118

not anything fancy or high dollar, but i figured if i was disappointed i wouldnt be out alotta money. any feedback on this model? i always carry a small folder in my front pocket (with a fixed blade on my belt or back pocket in a pocket sheath), so maybe this will be my new edc folder. i'll admit, im kinda excited to get this one....its always interesting when ya get to try out a new brand of knives.

Looks great, I have the Spyderco Chicago which is very similar except the blade length. I usually carry mine as a secondary to a larger knife like my ZT 0560. It is great little knife to handle the chores that do not require a mini-sword. The Cat has a deep carry wire pocket clip so it should be discreet and great for EDC. Congratulations on starting you new Spyderco collection, your wallet may get lighter over time when starting a Spyderco collection [such as mine].

I think youll really like the the hole for opening and the pocket clip. You can open the knife with the hole easily from any position. while the clip doesnt catch or scratch things nor will the finish on it get messed up. Plus that blade profile screams to slice something.

You're in trouble now! I started with the G-10 Chicago, had to get a Para 2, must have a Sage 2 for work, now want another Para 2, need a Delica as a backup, can't stop eye balling the PPT, and the Techno seems perfect for carrying to church!

Sooo much trouble!:D

i just got the e-mail...shipped it out today!
i do have one question for yall... as a Spyderco newb i have noticed there are some models made in the good ol US, some in Japan, and mine is made in Taiwan.
how does the quality differ between the three?

I have several made in the US and Japan; quality is amazing on all. I don't have any personal experience with Taiwan-made models, but the Sage series and the Gayle Bradley (among others) are made there and I've heard nothing but awesome things about their quality.

now thats what i like to hear LOL...thanks everyone for the replies

Congratulations. I'm relatively new to the hobby and my first Spyderco was a Delica 4 followed by a Sage 2. Currently considering a Dragonfly 2 which is similar to the Cat you just got.

Congrats, This Is Just The Start To A Long Road.

Anyways, The USA Made Models Are Great(Think Paramilitary 2, Military, And Manix 2), As Are The Japan Models(Think The Most Popular Delica And Endura), And The Taiwan Models Are Just Top Notch(Think Sage Series).

Keep in mind that spyderco uses two different makers in Taiwan. The ones stamped "Taichung Taiwan" are the exceptional ones. That's not to say knives simply stamped "Taiwan" are not high quality, its just that spyderco allows the Taichung maker to distinguish themself from the other Taiwanese makers essentially as a reward for putting out an absolutely world class product. This thread might shine some light on the issue:

Yup very true. If the Cat is going to be anything like the Chicago, you are going to be very happy with the quality of the work.

Post some pics when you get it!

yall were right....i love my first Spyderco. its a very nice knife, especially for the price, so i ordered a Native last week. the Benchmades could possibly be retired, cuz i can see myself owning several of these little gems in the near future. LOL

Be careful. Sometimes buying new Spydercos sets you back on buying new accessories or ammo for your guns. It's a back and forth financial struggle. Just lay off the gun forums and you will be okay for awhile.
