Just got my first Spydey A D'allara drop point PE. It is awesome thank you very much Mr. Glesser and everyone at Spyderco for an awesome knife.:D

P.S I ordered this from knifesite on Tuesday it got here today don't hesitate to buy from them they're awesome.

Here's a prediction:

Your'e second and third and fourteenth and fiftieth (and every one in between) Spydercos will be awesome too. Be careful though. Somewhere between about the ninth and tenth, the bug will really hit you and then your wallet will be in serious trouble.

I too bought my first spyderco rather recently (i guess the bug hadn't hit me as early as you guys here on the forums). untill that day I had been using my crkt-m21 as my edc as well as trail knife. now onto the spidy.

thus far I am very impressed by the spyderco endura 4. its the plain edge version and right outta the box it was sharp as satan's tongue. I did some light wood work with it testing out the blade. I made a base board and drill as well as a bearing block to show my friend the fire bow method. after all that I did some hedge prunning and some random gardening. when I brought it back inside it was a tad bit dirty so I decided to give it a quick clean and found myself some paper. it still sliced paper like a hot knife through butter. even on push tests it performed very well. thus far I am very satisfied with the spyderco, leaving my m21 as my backup folder on trails.

thanks for the great knives spyderco! I'm already having a unnecessary need to go buy another one.

congrats on ur new spidy bubba I hope ur having as much fun with it as I am

cheers

I got the D'Allara. Due to the handle thickness (girth) and width, I tend not to EDC it. However, it's a great knife. It's keeping my safe nice and ... well, safe.

I am not sure of where I'd carry or use the knife? I am a cop and love the idea of using at work, but it's too bulky and not practical. I'm a tad torn, I love the knife, but a knife that you don't carry is not going to do you much good (unless you're just collecting). I do a tad of both (collecting and edc), so I'm ok with the purchase.

I EDC my massive Manix and it even takes up less room than the D'Allara. Plus, the Manix is flexible and allows RHTD carry... My fav (and arguable safest) carry position. :)

hmmm.. trihonda. perhaps you should try getting a sheath for it? pocket sheath perhaps or some kind of generic sheath where u can place the knife in and carry it on your belt.

might work for ya...

sometimes the pockets for my pants are small limiting me from the size of folder i can carry... so to solve this problem i've found cheap generic sheaths and just popped em in there. works for me so no big problem.

good luck perhaps that'll work for you as well. my friend did the same thing with his firefly which is quite a big folder.

cheers ^^

p.s. if you live in canada try crappy tires. i;ve seen some cheap sheaths go for about 10 bux. perhaps you can give that a shot.

Nah, the carry position isn't idea for EDC IMHO. I like the versatility of my Manix (ok, I like everything about my manix). The thickness of the D'Allara is the issue. I also prefer G-10 to FRN. The D'Allara's FRN is pretty harsh on clothes too. Also, I don't like knife holsters when I have plenty of nice baggy pants pockets. Plus, these knives are designed to be pocket carried, and they do it pretty well without wearing a knife holster that screams (well, to be kind to those who have knife holsters), it screams a look I'm not wanting to portray, personally.. I can carry the D'Allara fine (but it's not as nice to carry as the Manix).

I have a question about Spyderco, I was told and have read that some of if not most of there knives are not made in the USA and are imported, is this true? sorry to steal your thread! just thought the spydie guys would know. thanks!

Some are, some aren't. It just varies. Some are made in Golden CO, Others in Seki City Japan, there are even one or two made in Italy (the Volpe for one). Made in location seems to follow the steel made in. IOW, if the steel is Japanese (like Hitachi's ZDP-189) so is the knife. All are great quality though.
Does that help??

im awaiting a dragonfly and an atlantic salt =) i've got da bug already. been bitten by da spyda :D

Ninth or tenth? I have a black bladed native and a spyderfly, and I have a wish list of over 500 bucks already. Not to mention im a teen with no time for a job, big problems. *wants a civie or matriarch*

another good one might be "spyda feevahhh" :D

or "spyda addict"

or "spydies gonna getcha"

or "been bitten?" (kinda like got milk?)

or "cant get enough of that good ol' fashioned spyda blades"

or "welcome to spyda-ville, population [#ofspydercos] and growing)

not quite as catchy , but good effort . i also need to get a job , buts its not so bad for me , because i have 18 spydies to keep me happy until then
