My first step into the world of ZT's

I've been eyeing a ZT for a long time. There's just something about that big ol' tiger stripe blade that grabs me. But alas, the 350sw is going for just too good a deal right now and I just couldn't resist. I believe I am now officially hooked! Now it seems that I have a reason to pick up a 301 in tiger, seeing as that is what peeked my interest in ZTs in the first place.
I'm already looking at custom scales and thinking of moding my own. Has anyone here tried "sealing" their scales with a clear coat? I really like my Benchmade 710's.

Welcome to the disease, good choice for a first ZT, if you get a 0301 you will love it. One strong, beast of a knife.

Ive never tried to seal my scales, I look at it as another variable that can fail. And it might make the scale smoother, lessening the grip.

The tiger stripe Blur is out there if you want tiger stripe without quite the cost. It is an exclusive to a particular seller (rhymes with "The Fellas", and is an 'outfitter' for hunting) who sells at full MSRP so not a great deal right now compared to Kershawguys prices on all of the other Blurs. I own 4 of them though.. or actually 1 and 3 Tiger Stripe Frankenblurs.
 
They are on sale at this very moment... You might want to get another one, OKN.
 
I wish I had checked the price when I was up in Lacey at that shop on Saturday! Could have saved on shipping as well.. Oh well... it just cost me $87 to fill my tank with gas so probably a good thing I missed out.
 
Good choice I use my 0350 more than any other knife (it is my main edc at work where there is more cutting to do). The knife performs beautifully and my coworkers are all jealous.
 
2ac, you have taken the first step toward rehabilitation. Admitting you have a love for great knives!
I think that wear marks and a good patina on the scales shows how much you love your knife.

Last time I was in there they said they dont carry the Blur in store, I gave the guy a stupid look, since that a stupid thing to do. Maybe they carry them now? It was on online sale only I think... I might use some of my points and get one.
 
I too just pulled the trigger on my first zt. I went with the 0550. Anxiously waiting its arrival :D drum roll.......it has arrived!

Nice buy on the 350. I almost bought a 350 a week as my first ZT. Ended up going for the 560. A week later I have a 300 coming in and possibility of a 350 as well.


I hate credit cards...

Ha if they'd give me knives on credit my number would look like a mortgage LOL.
 
The Springfield OR store had them almost immediately after they came out online and they are a much smaller store. I picked up my first one in store with a gift card I had from Christmas. So even if they are out or don't carry them, they should be able to do a store to store transfer as they don't seem to be online only. IIRC, the Lacey store had them when I was just up there but I think the time before when I was up there was in May or some time before the TS model was released. In the Springfield store they are hanging with the other knives. In Lacey they have the Kershaw section with some knives out on tags and others on hang tags in the locked display. I think I saw them hanging in that display with the fixed blade Skylines.
