My first steps and first post

I have never made knives before but have always wanted to give it a go. I sketched these out on graph paper and have just started cutting. I have D2,S30V,S35VN and Elmax. I am planning on kinda working my way up the pieces in that order to learn and find out which metal I like most.

Welcome to the forums. There is some great info contained in the stickies at the beginning of this forum.
I like your designs. They look quite doable and useful.

I can tell your are a man that likes a challenge; the steels you have chosen to start out with are not the easiest to work with.

Good luck and enjoy the learning; there is a great deal to learn and many good people to help you along the way.

Thanks Guys, I will get my profile filled out. I am sure I will need all the help I can get:) I have been working with Alpha Knife Supply and they put me on to Peters Heattreating... a guy named Chuck. I have already been talking to him and he seems very helpful. The have already been firing the Elmax so it seemed fitting. -Jared

Got the knives cut out and started grinding a few of them. I learn something new on every knife and I am having a blast with them.
