I've been wanting to try out some kind of stockman for a while now, just been having trouble deciding which kind.

So here's a little something by Case that I stumbled upon, a four dot model 5347 HP SSP that rolled from the production line the same year as I did, 1976. Which is kind of fun. :)

A good amount of dried storage oil and wax on it when I got it, but after a bit of cleaning I found a nice knife underneath:

Pretty decent stag on the front, even if it does "escape" a little from under the shield..

..and then there's a bit more of the gnarly stuff on the back, which is also nice.

Obviously not carbon steel blades, which I do prefer more on a traditional knife, but hey, you can't have everything at once! Gotta start somewhere. :D

Congrats, Frankki.

I hate to say it but there's little hope for you now. :D

Nice looker. I wouldn't worry about the stake sitting low on the bottom of the shield. It just adds character to that particular knife. The shield might even be pinned, another plus.Definatly picked a winner with that stag.

Thanks guys, it does seem like a really nice knife. Good action and snap on all the blades, the spey blade is in fact quite a nail destroyer. Very strong pull, will need to drink plenty more milk if I am to have any thumbnails left. :D

navihawk: The shield is indeed pinned, I can just barely see the two pin heads on the inside of the liner. It's a nice touch and I don't think the shield is about to fall off anytime soon.

I kinda like this "mountain range" view of the stag too:

I haven't mentioned anything yet about the 6275 SP Moose, also from 1976, that arrived a couple of days ago, I think? Oops.. :)

that's a beautiful stockman frankki... even better that it's from the year you were born.

That is a very nice knife indeed. You mentioned a moose... I'm afraid you may be in for it. Try to keep the kids in shoes.

BTW, I am carrying a 6347 in CV, and I had to put a sheath on my belt. I am such an old sourpuss that non-stainless steels just eat up in my pocket.

Frankki, you're a man after my own heart.:cool:

I like that mountain range too. Very nice knife. thanks for sharing....Now, you said you had a moose to show?

Oh yeah, the Moose. You gotta have a Moose if you're from the Nordic countries! Almost mandatory. :)

I'm in the process of getting it sharpened and ready for use. Almost done with the spey blade but still a lot left to go. Then again, what's the rush? This knife too is already as old as I am, it's not going anywhere faster than me.

Both of those a Fine looking knives that should be able to do anything you ask of them.

Hi,

Those are two fine Case slippies! And I think everyone needs to own a Stockman. They are truly one of the most useful patterns.
