Congratulations on your first Strider! I just got mine a few days ago and I love it.
I'm sure you'll love yours.

How's the deployment on your SNG? Mine sucks. My knife is hard to open, and when I adjust the pivot it develops blade play.

EDIT: Issue resolved

My knife is smooth, but I'd like it to be smoother. It was too smooth and such when I got it.
I don't have a strider tool so when I finally got it tightened it was OVERLY tight.
I finally got it loose enough to be smooth with no play.
So it's good to go, but I would like to loosen it just a tiny bit more.

I just ordered my first SMF yesterday too, be afraid though be very afraid the strider bug bites hard, you won't own just one. Striders are also gonna need a break in period and recommend you cycle the knife anywhere from 200-1,000 times for break in to allow the washers to set in, and discourage any kind of tinkering or adjusting until the knife is broken in. If your knife is hard to open there are a few small things you might try that are very simple, but overlooked to help smooth it out, first is clean the detent ball with a q-tip, especially if it is new and you are breaking it in, It will get some of the blade coating(if it's a coated blade) built up on the detent ball and make deployment harder, my SnG brand new out of bag would drop free when the lock bar was disengaged but then it got really rough, cleaned the detent ball and now she's smooth again. Another thing is people say there is a sweet spot in the pivot, even though you need a spanner tool to really adjust the pivot people with far more knowledge of striders than I say that if you turn the pivot a few degrees and open it (repeat until you find the sweet spot) that every knife has a "sweet spot" you just haft to find it. I bought the 32.00 spanner tool but found about a million ways to make your own for less than 5 bucks, if you have a dremel tool, just google or youtube how to make a strider spanner tool. If I can help you out anymore shoot me a pm, or ask in this thread, I don't know a whole lot but since buying my first strider basically all I've done is research how to care for them and tips and tricks about the knives, BTW enjoy your new knife. Also might add that they say adjusting the frame screw closest to the pivot may also help the action as well.

Don't be scared to thrash on it a little bit, a lot actually it's what they are made for... I wanted to test the z-wear steel so cut up about 10 cans and stropped the edge back to factory sharpeness, now we are bonded for life.:D

Congrats Joey! I too have my first strider on its way----got the SNG flamed TI black g10 Leggo with stonewashed cpm154 steel from true north knives. Also have the strider/hinderer tool coming from monkey edge(in hopes i own a a hinderer as well one day). Anxious to see a pic of your strider!!!

When you make a comment... click the little picture of a tree to the right of the smiley face. Then click the tab that says something like "URL," and then paste the image's URL in the little box it gives you. Make the the URL you copy has ".jpg" or something like that at the end.

It is etched in on mine and all of the pictures that I have seen of them. But I'm not an expert on the subject.

If the blade doesn't have a steel stamped on it, it's supposed to be S30v from what I've read.
