My Surefire E2E arrived in the mail today! I have never owned a "high output" flashlight before, so I was really impressed with the small size and light weight of the Surefire. I was expecting the sun to come out when I clicked on the flash light, thanks to Surefire's advertising machine, so I was kind of dissapointed that I didn't have a wall of scrotching light. However, my E2E blew away my mini Maglight and cheap LEDs in a quick comparison. Hell, I can even use my E2E as a mini search light from the 12th floor of my apartment.

Besides Surefire, are there any other good and high quality flashlight companies out there for EDC/self defense?

fun isn't it.

I have the G2 with a 120 lumen lamp. Battery life sucks, but it's still fun.

What I really like about the light is its throw more than its intensity. 120 lumens in painfully bright up close, but if the beam can't throw any distance, all that light output is useless.

We had a full power outage at work a few weeks ago. When the lights are out, you can't see anything in the back of the store. Standing at one end, I could easily light up the other side. Granted it's not a huge store, but a friend's Gladius (90 lumen LED) couldn't make it to the other side.

Even with the standard 65 lumen lamp, my G2 has more throw distance than the Gladius.

That is what I am afraid of. Now I have to balance my comic book budget, knife budget, and flashlight budget :(

Hey, I know somebody who is trying to sell a near mint M3. ;)

Not me, of course. :)

Yea Surefire's are neat little lights , I own two.
The only thing I dont like about them is the somewhat exotic batteries. I have bought a few boxes on Surefire brand batteries from eBay for pretty cheap , that always helps.
Aonther great thing about Surefire is the fast , friendly customer service and no questions replacement/repair.

You might take a look at Digi Light at http://www.tactical-edge.net/lights_2.htm. They offer a better price than the SureFire products and seem to have pretty good quality. Law enforcemt officers in the area seem to like them. I own several SureFire lights myself...including the E2E. The Digi Light brand uses lamp assemblies that look identical to SureFire's. Some of the accessories from the Digi Light brand are interchangable with the SureFire products as well. Compare the price/lumen output of SureFire and Digi Light and you will definitely see more lumens for the dollar.

I've recently become a firm believer in the Nuwai Q3 LED, esp when using the AA adaptor.

65 lumens, LED, and AA run time. Very sweet.

Even in it's original 123 config, it is a heck of a pocket light.

Here is a pic comparing the Q3, and the Q3 with the adaptor.

i have grown to like the LED surefires myself, more rugged and lots more batt life. get a KL1 or KL3 head and it screws right on the E2e........

I can't believe that so many people are enamoured of amzingly expensive flashlight that eat up expensive battery power at such a high rate.

Even more unbelievable is that I carry around my aviator all the time, and my wife was so jealous that she made me get her a surefire, which she carries around all the time in her purse.

There is omething the matter with us, but I can't figure out what it is.......
