Just got lucky when a nice surprise came in the mail. I had won what I thought was a clean Fourth Version 110 on ebay and when it arrived I found I had a Third Version with the integral spacer instead. :D 1967-70 with the BUCK USA stamp. This is now my oldest 110 to date. I was surprised at how slender the knife is compared to My Alasken Guide and an even an actual Fourth Version.

I found the second Fourth version after I had won the first one but I just had to go for it because it came with the original sheath, two piece box & papers. Not NIB but also a nice clean piece.

My goal is to have a NIB copy for every version. That's not shootin' to high is it? LMAO

Now where's a that NIB Second.......it's nice to have dreams aint it? :D

Great find! I am trying for all versions of the 110 in excellent condition if not NIB. So far I have a 4 dot, 3 dot and no dot 3 pin NIB. A 2 dot 4 pin in mint condition but no brass spacer yet. Also have a couple dozen 2 and 3 dots in very good condition.

Can ayone tell me exactly how many versions of the 110 were produced?

Isn't it funny how that works??? I "won" a Buck 112 described as 'brass', but when it came, it was Nickel Silver...slightly scratchy, but buffable... :D

...But I wanted a beater for the parts...so I had to find another one... :(

Sorry about that I'm still trying to figure out this quote thing-a ma-jig.

Anyway, Yea Trax, I know what you mean. I thought I was gonna' have two fourth versions so I figured I'd just pick one and resell the other. But then here comes this nice third. And problem solved. Not that havin' two nice fourth versions is a real big problem. Just like accidentally getting a nice nk ranger. Some people would pay money to have these kind of problems.

BTW Deep ...according to Blades there are eight "versions". So far I've got nice samples of the basic 3 thru 8. But then there are variations within versions......and the band played on..and...on.... After the "versions" in 1986 they changed to various symbols denoting year. <,>,^,v, x, etc. Blades is a real handy reference and has a great section on this thanks to Vern Taylor, Joe Houser and Larry Oden.

Mike

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I've spent most of my money on beer and knives.......the rest I just wasted.

Deep6Osama,
You really need to get a copy of Blades guide to knives and their value. It has a great section in it on Buck 110's. The number of variations within the various versions of the 110 are mind numbing. I think there are around nine basic versions, but there are numerous variations within those versions that any serious collector should include in their set. Good luck in your quest. :D
Mike
(currently have 2nd version, third version - one liner, fourth version - both brass and steel rocker pin, no dot three liner, no dot inverted three liner, two dot two pin, two dot three pin, three dot, four dot and numerous misc :D )

Trax.... In my copy of Blades the 110 & 112 info starts on page 505.

Different Mike

I picked up my copy from BigRockMedia on ebay for $22.34 + $1.00 shipping. I think they still show it as being available. I was happy with their service.
