Well I went for a hike today and made my first figure four, I know there is a heck of a lot better bushcrafters here than me so I was wondering if anyone would care to give me a few pointers or tips?

Awesome work, you know its good when it works that well.

Don't have anything to add, if its working for ya, keep doing what your doing!

Looks better than the first one I made. Boy that was ugly. Worked though and that's the point.

Not bad at all for a first time. I just have a question and a thought.

Is that figure four intended to be manually triggered by a string, or how do you intend to attach the bait?

Also IMO the deadfall is standing a bit too staright up and down...would take longer to fall that way.

Hey broski...I have been working on paracord snares more than anything, you can make a TON out of 100ft of 500ft 7+1 strand paracord, for all sizes of game. A double strand will reportedly hold a full sized buck.

I've only caught a squirrel, rabbit, and raccoon with 5 traps over the course of 36 hours, but it was a very infrequently hunted piece of ground. I personally don't eat any of these critters, so i released the ones that were unharmed and haven't done any more trapping to get more information.

They are super easy to do, you just have to make up for them in quantity. You could likely put out 50 in a day and have food for the following 2-5 days in a populated forest assuming deer, turkey, coyote, wolf, or another mid-sized or large game was present.

Im no expert though

Not bad for a first try. Maybe set the rock at more of an angle instead of straight up and down, but other than that, great job!

Looks like a great day brother...Welcom to The wilderness and survival skills family
I recently made a few vids on the fig,4 the first is just a gen overview

the other 2 where shot indoors and deal primarily with ways to make it more eficient as a game getter, I don't know that there will be any new info in there for anyone..But they where fun to shoot.

again Nice first deadfall... Keep at it.

here's the gen fig. 4 one
