I am finally at the right age and financially able to start collecting knives. I have been doing alot of research and know exactly what i like. Down the road i plan on buying if possible a DKW SANDSHARK and or a Jeff Harkins Triton. However for now i have to stick to the lower end and build my collection up from there. In the last 5 days i have ordered one Kimora II, and purchased a benchmade and a ken onion kershaw. I am planning on ordering a Protech Godfather.

Now i have done some research and i know that alot of people claim that the blade tip is very weak. I have done some reasearch and found that protech has actually improved the tip and made it stronger by making the blade more thick.

I want to get some thoughts on if i should go ahead and get the godfather or got for something different with my $250.

I love damascus style blades and will most likely fill my collection with them, Boker makes a very nice one that i really like but it is 600$

Also if anyone has duplicates of say spidies or benchmades they are trying to get rid of im building a collection.

Welcome to the forums. There are a lot of real good knives out there for $250. Just check out some of the deals in the for sale section. You can find good deals on customs and productions. If you save a little more you could get something like a Sebenza. You could also get a few smaller priced productions from Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, ect. Good Luck with your collection! if i could offer some advice, dont be in such a rush to build a collection. take your time and really examine each knife you are going to buy. you will appreciate the blades much more i think.

I am also a huge fan of damascus.:)

Welcome!

The Godfather is hugely popular and a favorite of nearly everyone.
If you might like something with a slightly more "classical" look, take a look at the Protech Don (or the large Don). I love mine. Beautifully finished and extremely lite.
