I had a cheap, improperly used, India made axe head.
Thought it best to practice on it.
Well it came out not too bad, I think.
Didnt get the wedge exactly perfect.
Still have to work on the head some more.
I put linseed oil all over it.
Should I let it sit for awhile before using it?

How about some pictures. It's OK to use it once the linseed oil has soaked in and is no longer slippery

Good idea to practice on a cheap axe before starting on one you really like. Try to get a copy of the USFS publication, "An Axe,to grind". It has a lot of great tips for hanging axes, sharpening axes and axe use, plus a little axe history. You should be able to find it online if you can't find a hardcopy version.

I downloaded "An axe to grind", watched it many times.
I can't post pics yet, trying to figure out why....?

You can post pictures by using a hosting site like Flickr, Shutterfly, or Picassa, etc. You then insert the URL of the image into your post.

Imgur worked well for me. You have to convert them to BBC code and then add the photos one at a time, by copying the link or typing it in to the axe forums. Hope this helps. Ask questions and you will receive answers.

On Flickr right click on the image, select sizes. Left click the size you want then right and click properties. Copy properties, then above the comment box on BF click the image icon and paste the copied properties into pop up box. Thats what works for me.
