Hey All,
Wanted to post up a sheath I did for a customer. I just started tooling/carving leather I did a few practice pieces, I have been making sheaths for a couple of years now and just figured what the heck lets try carving. I am pretty happy with the results but im sure I missed something, but hey you can only get better right. This sheath was done for a Himalayan Import Hasiya. The Hasiya is a gardening/farming tool, so I did a floral carving on it as I thought it was fitting. I also did a traditional style frog for it as well. Overall not to bad for the first one I think.

I'm going to switch from 5spi to 7. I've really liked all of the sheaths that I've seen lately with fine stitching. I think 5 is more suitable for a double row, but that's not really my thing.

What size thread do you use? I have some .8mm Ritza that may work well.

I have been doing 6 spi and usually use artificial sinew, I like using it and you can strip it for finer thread and its strong as heck.

That's interesting. A friend of mine has been doing some nice work with the art sinew. I've not really cared for the look in the past, but I see only good in yours and his work.
