Thanks to you guys I was able to select the right knife for me as a beginning in to my new obsession. This one is a GEC #55 Northfield UnxLD Hound Tooth in Autumn Gold Jigged Bone. It's awesome. Perfect snap, not to tight to get open but nice and tight from mid to open, centers perfectly, no blade play and the fit and finish is spectacular. After a few quick swipes on a loaded strop, it's shaving sharp. I don't think this one will leave my pocket any time soon. Thanks!

Congratulations, you got a real beauty there!

I need to stop opening these GEC 55 threads if I intend to keep resisting the temptation to get one.

You certainly made a great first choice! Welcome to the traditional family!

That is one fine first traditional to own! Well done.

So, what's next? :D

Thanks all! Yep already looking haha! I'm thinking of a toothpick or a stockman. The place I bought this one from has a nice looking conductor.

That is a great first traditional! I'm sure not your last, by a long shot. That 55 is a looker for sure. Enjoy it!

Thanks again, I sure plan on enjoying it! Dave I thought about getting the Tidioute version because I prefer it without a swedge for whittling, but these scales and the overall look just really spoke to me.

I've been wanting one of these, this did not help, thanks!

and congrats on a fine knife :)

Same here! I am about to pull the trigger one thanks to this thread and the other. If there weren't at least 4 other GECs that I want at the moment, I wouldn't be sweating it as much. The 55 is a real looker!

I have one in Autumn Jigged Bone but mine is a spear point. Next purchase is a Wharncliffe wearing Bocote. :)
This pattern, for me, is one of the best ergonomic designs for the hand.

Nice purchase.

Thanks! I agree, this knife is really ergonomic. It surprised me just how ergonomic it is. I am so used to much larger knives, like Benchmades and Spydercos and the like that it was hard to imagine a knife this small could feel so good in hand. I guess it's just a testament to the timeliness of the "traditional" design!

Now I just hope I haven't ruined myself by start with such an exceptional traditional and comparing all the others to come to it!
