My first traditional (okay, not really)

As some of you may have seen in my previous thread in this subforum, I have a number of Case knives that I acquired over the course of a few years (~1998-2000....I do have the 2001 Case straight razor; but that was during a later, brief interest in razors)....but it is the first one I have purchased in about 15 yrs, and the first one I have carried in probably 35 yrs.
Anyway, as stated in the other thread, I'd been looking at traditionals again; with the intent of purchasing one for daily carry. I now have one in hand - purchased on the Exchange - and I'm considering it a great score. I am very happy with the knife, and it has been in a pocket since it arrived. I've also been looking at others; but none of them are ringing the right bells; which impresses me even more. My new prize: GEC #62 (2 blade) Congress in Birdseye Maple.

Not surprisingly, it wasn't particularly sharp. I gave it a quick touch up - it isn't quite where I want it, yet; but it cuts.
(My apologies for the lighting - I had to move after the second pic because my dog shifted position & kicked the knife out of his sunbeam. The color difference in the two scales is not as profound as it appears - they're a good match.)

That's an excellent way to get back into traditionals, I haven't seen a lot of gec's with Birdseye maple. Congrats on an awesome knife!

While I'm thrilled with the knife, I'm still acclimating to the size, lol. I've spurned numerous folders over the years as too small; and this looks, feels, and just plain IS tiny compared to what I've been carrying. Obviously, this won't see the same duty; so there's room for both in my world.

(There's one piece on the Exchange that has my eye...but it's a trapper, and I'm not a big fan of that platform. If it was a muskrat, I think it would already here. I'm not sure it would get carried; but I'd have to have it. Hmmm, if I'm not going to carry it; it doesn't really matter whether I like trappers, does it?)

Gorgeous half congress.

As for trappers. I like 'em. Though I believe there are to many knifes avaliable for you to buy one you are not 100% set on.

The opposing blade platforms just appeal to me more...though I admit that my prejudice against trappers is not based on any negative experience with them.
