Just some pics of my first try at working with leather..
I think I got hooked ;-)

This is the Sheath, The ULB came with:

A little loose and big for my liking.
So, please give some feedback!

Thanks for watching!

I say you done good......however, you may consider coming up a little higher, closer to the pin on the handle. That may be a bit much handle against your ribs. Just a thought....funnest part is try it out and if you don't feel right with it....do it again!
Keep at it, you got the knack!

Thanks for your kind words!

Actually, the stiching in the 4th Pic is the third, as come to realize that I forgot to cut a groove for the twine to run in.
Also tried the "saddlers stich", which came out nicely (for a first)

I drilled the holes first, otherwise my finger would have gone numb.
The leather is 4mm thick, a little to much for a sheath I think, but thats what I got...
Its quite difficult to find good leather blanks here, Berlin (Germany) is so industrialized, that the old crafts are hard to find...

The sheath rides quite high on the belt, but thats what I wanted.
Its canted, so the handle aligns whith my left kidney.

The people around me are mostly sheeples, so I like my blades to be concealed.

Here a comparison pic, Gunny and ULB:

Even if its a quite small blade, no need to scare the dumb...

Nice sheath! I've wanted to give it try for some time. Great knife to start with, too. The ULB is one of my favorites :)

If my calculation is right, 4mm falls right in that 8-10oz. range, which is what I use and just about right for the size blade you're making it for.

I also like to cant my sheaths, and wear them higher up like that.
I think you did good!

THEHUNT---You did an excellent job on the sheath, friend. I would suggest that you welt the sheath to the curved contour of the blade. In time the molding of the sheath at the base of the handle could loosen slightly and allow the knife to drop deeper into the sheath and possibly allowing the point to puncture the sheath. You would not have to alter the shape of the squared point but would have to do additional stitching parallel to the blade. ---Sandy---

Thanks a lot for your replies, guys!
I will keep this in mind!

So far the sheath holds up pretty well, no movement on the blade. Yet ;-)
Will see, what the future brings, maybe I will have to do some aditional stiching...

Right now I´m thinking about a leather sheath for my Gunny, the Sharpsshooter sheath rides quite low...

I keep you posted!
