I recently inherited a heat gun, and I found the spare parts to make a temporary press. At this point I decided, what the heck, I'll give kydex bending a shot!

$40 later I have a rivet flaring die and some kydex & rivets, which I have put to good use.

I learned a couple useful things from this. 1: Don't make the kydex sheet too small, or you'll have issues. And 2: measure where you drill holes, don't just guess :p

Next time I buy some kydex, I should have something that looks a bit more professional... But these two blems were sure fun to try making!

(The random extra holes on the big one are where I'm missing two rivets (the kit came with 10, needed 12) and where I tried to mount an included belt loop (which was designed for thinner kydex))

it looks like in the first pic you heated up the kydex to fast. if you add to much heat it will gloss over . good luck on the next sheaths !!!!

I used the oven to heat my kydex and it worked great. Don't have to worry about heating it unevenly either. Now I just need a good rivet setter and a way to cut the kydex to shape. Nice job and keep it up. We need more kydex benders on the forums. :)

They look pretty good to me, I have thought about trying this as well....maybe.
