I'm amazed by the wealth of information and experience on these forums, and I appreciate all who are providing counsel to those of us who are new to this passion. Having said that, I offer my first two for your critique...I have a friend who is teaching me.

Original design, sparked by a Bark River Fox...
Overall dimensions (2 knives): (what I originally had in mind)
9 1/2" length
1 1/2" width
5 1/2" scale length - G10 or linen micarta
3/16" hollow ground on #1 - carbon steel, 1095, O1 or something similar
3/32" convex on #2 - stainless, 154CM or similar

Followed closely by several modifications:

After several changes of source material, what I ended up with:
1/4" D2 and 3/32" ATS-34 (these are what my teacher had on hand)
Here's the initial cut and grind:

Here they are fresh from the oven!

Here you can see the tapered tang and hollow grinds of #1:

Here the flats are done down to 15 micron paper, about to work on the blade surfaces. My teacher's work is on the left...it's a older Damascus folder.

He's checking my work.

All epoxied and ready for finishing. This is about 15 hours of work so far.

Thanks for looking!

not sure if you are aware, but there is also a Makers forum where some of those folks might help you with technical expertise. Looking forward to seeing the final result.

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Is it possible to have it moved?

:) Great job!!!

This is another reason we need to take the hidden forums like Shop Talk and WSS and put them on the main forum page.

I don't see anything wrong with you posting a WIP here.

You're a natural! :)

Excellent work for a second attempt! Plus you even tapered the tang!!

Turned out really nice.
And I admire your moxie in both attempting and pulling off a tapered tang on your first.
