Hello everyone,
I've been here on this forum for alittle while, sitting back and soaking up all the tips I can. When I first found this site I was working on two Knives out of 1/4 mild steel, with just hand files. Lets just say all that time and hard work only to find out the steel was useless taught me a good lesson. I've been slowly gathering knowledge and tools of the trade. Hopefully you guys are able to see the pictures, this is my first attempt at posting pics. Thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge, and special thanks to
Rick Marchand for taking the time to explain his cord wrap for me.

Those 2 look really good for your first knives! And you jumped right into making a hamon
you are definitely on the right track! May i ask what steel is the top knife in the first picture?

Cool!

Really like the handle on the 1st, and the 2nd is nice as well; is that made from a file? can see what looks to be a file tooth pattern near the bevel towards the spine

Very nice job. sorry about the mild steel issue, but it was definitely great practice. and you are lucky I asked Rick to help me with a cord wrap and he told me to get lost!:D

Thanks for the comments guys,
I should have posted specs in my post.
The smaller one is an old Nickleson file, clay coated with Satanite, hemp twine over leather and sealed with West System's G-Flex.
The other is 1095 in 3/16 stock, cold blue and acid etch on blade, handle is OD green canvas, black spacers with brass pins and thong.
