Hi BF,

Yesterday I picked up my first Zaan from a very nice forum member (thanks Ford).

And as some may have read my small post on the 25 recently stating how stout I thought the 25 was (is). Well this CRK IMHO has stepped it up another level; it's a beast and I love it. Dave will be proud...:D.

It fills my hand nicely but also gives a feeling of almost like holding a fixed blade (I said almost, for all you fixed blade buffs out there). I am kinda upset I didn't pick one up sooner. It's also incredibly smooth and I have no problem at all thumb flicking it open. Lockup is really stout, just an amazing workhorse type CRK, IMHO.

The "Zaan Man" has suggested on a number of occasions that I needed a Zaan, well let me tell you Dave; you were absolutely right my friend, I had no idea. I have been a dedicated Sebenza user since 2006, but I'm glad I actually picked this one up.

I took a few quick pics on my GSXR1000 while I was warming it up today.

Thanks for looking

The Umnumzaan is a splendid choice, I have been using mine for years now and can't see much changing that in the comming years...... It looks like you have a few other fun toys in those pics there as well ? ;)

When I got my first zaan, the WC model, it was right handed, for a lefty, it was terrible and I didn't like it that much, thanks to Dave, he picked it up from me and I got a left hand WC zaan, now I can't put the darn thing down. I'm even going to get a basic lefty to use every day cause the WC is just too pretty to use. Yours is sweet, hope you enjoy it

Thank you Ajack60, I will definitely enjoy it. Yes Dave is a good dude.

Glad to know that you are enjoying that beautiful Zaan!

Just used my zaan to "boss" some cheese onto a cracker. That meunster had no idea what happened. Got halved. Then further halved. Inconceivable fractions of dairy were shoved down my gullet. Call me a fan of the zaan. I'm all about it. Now to add a small sebenza to my collection...

Congrats! I remember my zaan, best knife i ever bought. Cool that you got the old style, i am not a fan of the LBS

I'm enjoying the Zaan very much SoCal_kid. That small Sebenza is going to feel very small compared to the Zaan. However all Sebenza's are great choices.

Thank you Arcrobe, I like the old style pivot and lack of lbs as well. Call me old school I guess...:D

So Ive been drinking and feeling like sharing with my fellow forumites. The Umnumzaan was my first Chris Reeve. Im insanely happy with it. The swedge is very useful for scraping things that you'd rather not put your finely honed s35vn edge against. For example, a garlic press. Like i did in the following picture/bbq session. Speaking of the S35vn, it doesnt keep a hair popping edge for a long time, but a working edge for an exceptionally long time. the wide bevel on the cutting edge seems to assist in keeping the edge geometry the same, although I will readily admit that I am not nearly as experienced as most (as far as I can tell) on this forum. Ive used this knife to cut rope, cardboard, rose branches, food, and all matter of miscellaneous matter. For example, bok choy and mushrooms. Not particularly difficult materials to cut through, but wow...it breezes through things. Ive no experience with other Chris Reeve instruments of division...but Im working towards it guys. Seriously, it doesnt happen over night...for me. So, here are my quick snaps of my daily activities. I also used it to trim hedges and saplings in my front yard but no pics because Im too introverted for my neighbors to start asking questions about why I am taking fashion shots of my huge "call me Ishmael" knife.

my personal obligatory pic, batman swag!

That's awesome SoCal_Kid, glad you're using and enjoying it...

I love the Umnumzaan...here is an older tanto with no lbs and a Southard backspacer....Thanks Treeshaker. Here are a couple pics from one SoCal Kid to another.
