Well folks, this evening I finally broke down and finished what had initially started as an experiment while I waited for more equipment to come in. Originally I was going to wait until I got the makings of a pretty heavy duty kydex press I was putting together done, but after some experimentation with some temperatures, the "experimental" (sacrificial) piece turned out so well I decided to go ahead and make it into a sheath. Here are the results.

Hopefully now I can finish some other sheaths I have been needing to get done for awhile. (Yes Murph, yours for a knife you have graciously loaned me for quite a long time now. Make no mistake, you will be well rewarded for your patience.)

Here are some more pics of it. I still need to heat and reshape the mouth a bit, but otherwise it is good to go.

That looks great. Does not look like the sheath of someone learning.

Interesting idea with the 2 tek loks.

looks awesome! nicely shaped...do u have a pic of the mouth? thats the part giving me the most trouble

Your kidding me right? That is sick, the rivets are the hardest to do by far. BTW, I dont think you need so many rivets.

The two tek loks was more me checking to make sure the holes lined up properly. I will snag a pic of the mouth here after a bit.

TB you're probably having so much trouble with the mouth because you may be making female sheaths. Don't beat me Cap'n. :D Damn, D. How many test runs did you do before posting this as an "attempt"?! Very nice, can't wait to see what you cook up for the Grunt.

Yeah, scout carry. I will be whipping up an attachment for every other kind of carry though.

That looks great! seems very functional to boot. I don't know what 1st sheaths tend to look like, but it seems there's a lot more to it and many ways to screw it up, which make this even more impressive

Impressive. This whole kydex thing seems like voodoo to me. I wouldn't know where to start.

Nicely done, D. What did you end up using to trim it down to size?

Oh, and one criticism. You need more tekloks, that thing looks like it won't be secure enough :P

That's a great job...it certainly does not look like a first attempt. Thanks for putting up the pics. Have you finished the heavy duty kydex press you mentioned?
