My first XM and...

Recently got my first XM and I can't find a single thing I don't like about it.
This isn't normal. I always have some kinda gripe about a knife but everything about it seems to be practical, tough built, solid and extremely ergonomic.

The knife in question is an gen4 XM-18 3.5" flipper. Sporting the most beautiful stonewash I've ever seen and a sterile 20cv slicer ground blade.

I used to be the guy that was like "Why spend all that money, when ya can get a 0560 for $xxx?.." Now I know why. This thing is absolutely amazing and I now know for a fact that I will always own a Hinderer from this point forward. I've owned many knives, but never felt something this solid. And since the 560 was on bearings, I never thought some plastic washers could be anywhere near as smooth. The first time I opened it and felt that smooth as glass transition I was sold!

Another thing I love about the XM, is it's modular design. Basically allowing you to play dress up with your knife everyday.. (ok, not everyday.. sometimes though. HAha) So far I've procured a smooth CF, frag CF, frag OD, and regular black scale. Also grabbed some bronze anodized standoffs. Sexy stuff!

Thanks Rick and crew for making such a great knife. Would also like to thank my buddy Zookie for hooking me up with this great piece!

Anyway.. on to some pictures.

Nice slicer!!!!!! I still do prefer the pre-logo blades!! Thanks for sharing!

I should have my first one Monday, a xm-24. I hope I'm as happy as you are, it's the most I've paid for a knife to date, including customs.

Very cool just in time for Christmas, see if you can keep it in the box until Christmas morning ( I know I couldn't but you may be stronger than me).

That is my grail, I need to find a 3.5" flipper slicer, very nice!

I have someone's grail? "Mama, Ive made it".. Haha

This knife is great, but in all reality, I was searching for the exact same thing, but in a Spanto grind. That being said, I've really fell in love with this one. Which is why I'd be afraid to trade it for a Spanto.. I might end up wanting the Slicer back.

I guess I just gotta save my pennies... :)

Yup, you're gone, welcome to the addiction :D

Thanks! I know what ya mean. I'll take a sterile blade any day.

Huh...many feel this same way. I always support a makers's decisions. There's often unknown or unrealized reasoning that goes into changes. That said, it would not hurt my feelings if logos were optional.

And I do like your XM, it has features many I own do not...like the frag scale. There is no wrong answer to personalizing the XM, strap on whatever official pieces you find appealing and carry on--it's a very capable tool no matter how we outfit it.

Welcome to the curse...I mean addiction...I mean club :p :D After (or before) getting a few of the knives, you will need to branch out and start buying the pens ;)

That looks great! The bronze standoffs reallt complete the look.
