I'm expecting two more shipments this week to help me catch up with some of you fanatics, but can now say that I have some real Beckers! That and another discussion on another forum got me thinking about firsts. Here are a few of mine that I still have.

First knife I owned:

Got this when I started Cub Scouts sometime around 1970, when I was 8 years old. We weren't poor growing up, but weren't rich either. So instead of paying the premium for the official Cub Scout knife, I got the "Kamp King". A lot of miles and memories on this one.

First gun I ever bought:

Purchased in 1985 at a gun store in Augusta, Georgia, when I was a Second Lieutenant at the Signal Officer Basic Course. S&W Model 66 with custom Herrett's stock (Jordan Trooper style). It's been to Germany twice as well as traveling across most of the midwest, south, and southwest of the U.S.

First Beckers:

First one out of the box from Knife Works. The Doug Ritter/Becker RSK Mk2. I'll have to break it in this weekend....

Also picked up a set of the ESEE Becker kitchen knives. I'll be buying more for Christmas gifts. Used some leftover turkey to make Asian sweet chili wraps.

Anyone else interested in sharing a photo of their first knife, gun, car, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc?:)

Ok, here are some of my first. Most of my first from long ago have been lost, stolen, sold or broken. My first knives and guns are long gone, but I have some other first taht might be interesting. Check them out.

My First personally owned AR15:

My first Becker

My first Becker I got for free because of this forum and Mr. Ethan Becker

My first attempt to be funny while photographing my favorite Becker

My first tactical folder (Spyderco Endura, circa 1994)

My first cookbook "I" ever purchased

My first Tomahawk I ever bought and modded

My first Man Purse

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I hope a few more folks will join in...

Now I'm thinking seriously about the "man purse". When I was a young 2nd Lieutenant, I carried an old milsurp bag that I think was supposed to be an engineer's bag from one of those European counties. It was olive green canvas waterproofed with wax. It was jokingly called a "fa* bag" by some folks (the words rhymed), but was good for carrying maps, papers, and other small stuffs needed in the field. Now I'll have to dig though my box o' stuff in the garage to see if I still have it.

Thanks again!

The problem that I have posting here is that any "first" picture I might have must first be dug out of a box, found in the pile of actual paper prints (some are even....slides!), scanned and then digitally manipulated for web publication. I'm too old for that, and I took 25 years of actual film photos before going digital.....I'd have another herniated disc just trying to get the boxes out! Too bad, there are some great memories buried in those boxes.

First Ghillie Suit:

First Precision Rig (can shoot .5MOA all day, everyday with my handloads...no exaggeration):

First Becker:

First Leather Sheath:

First AR-15 (built up from a stripped lower by myself):

First Glock Gen3:

I'll play.

First Becker, together with first attempt at handle scales:

First knife I ever made:

First full-size sword I ever made:

First AR-15 (DDM4v7), first handgun(SA XD40 Service), and first custom knife purchase (a Barry Dawson):

First holster I ever made:

(And the second one, with first mag carrier, which is now part of my EDC kit)

This is the second model of the first decent folder I ever owned. First one got stolen:

Good stuff!! Especially the leather work by you both. I haven't done any of that since I was a Boy Scout (dinosaurs roamed the earth then). Sigh...another hobby I'd like to do but probably don't have time for.

Actually, now that you mention it, I still see some Officers walking around with map cases. They make great Fa*bags, and, I want one.

I went to Hawaii in 1987('88?) with a friend of mine, took my Minolta X-700 (bought new in '81) with a Vivitar Pro-Series 28-105 zoom and shot 2 weeks entirely on slide film. No auto-focus, just skillz. Got some great shots, which are now in a box somewhere in this house. Also took it on a trip to the Havasupai Indian Reservation in 1997 (again, ?) and took some unbelievable shots of Mooney Falls, which I would love to find to post in Trades "water photos" thread because, well, this: Havasu Falls Photo.
Carried the same setup until 2003, when I got a Canon digital camera for my 40th. Minolta made that camera from 1981 to 1999, and it was my first nice piece of tech equipment that I ever bought with my own (graduation) money. It was still working great when I finally sold it in 2007. I don't regret selling it. I have all the pictures I took with it to remember it by. I wish I could remember the first "decent" knife I ever bought.....probably my Gerber Clip, made in Italy. Don't remember when I bought it though. sometime int the late 80's probably.
