Today i got my first knife that cost over $100 and its the first ZT in my collection (but it wont be my last) I have been a fan of kershaw ever since i met grant and gavin hawk when they came to our restaurant. They introduced me to the kershaw R.A.M. which is one of their designs as well as the ET and the select fire. They also designed at least one ZT model but i cant remember which. I absolutely love the RAM and was very impressed with the quality and customer service of kershaw. Prior to this my most expensive knife was maybe $20 so this was my first taste into quality steel (14C28N) Needless to say i was hooked on kershaw and good knives in general

Well anyway i have been wanting to get a ZT knife for a while and i finally had the money when i saw a design i really liked.
I got the 0770CF-M390
All i can say is WOW! i couldnt possibly be happier with this knife. It has the best factory edge of any knife ive bought and has held up very well. Its light weight (3oz i believe) which is perfect for EDC. The flipper is very fast and locks up solid. The overall quality is amazing, I am very impressed. I am also very happy i got serial number 0600 i cant really explain why but when i saw the serial was a nice round number i liked the knife even more (but like i said, can explain why :-) )
I think i made a great choice for my first 3 figure knife.
here are some quick pics i just took, nothing fancy but no one should post a thread about a knife they got without showing some photos

That didn't exactly make me calmer. I have just ordered the same knife but with Elmax steel. My first ZT too! :)

I really liked the 770 but assisted open killed it for me. That said, it is a very nice knife for the money, and a very nice choice for a first non-budget blade. Wish ZT would release a non assisted sub frame lock version like the old 0777.

Welcome to the world of quality knives. Now you know what all the fuss is about. It even gets better than ZT.
No doubt you're an addict now
Congratulations!!!!!

I have had mine since last summer...great knife, just wish they would make a kvt version

I've got one in Elmax on the way myself. Looking forward to it.

yea i was anti-assist for a long time as well, and still do prefer a flipper without it on some knives but i think it fits and works well with this one as well as my kershaw rake which are the only two assist knives i have liked. I havnt had good luck with the kershaw non-assist knives, they all require a wrist flick to open, in my opinion they should open with the flipper only. so far CRKT makes the best sub $100 flippers. EVERY one flips open with zero wrist flick some have bearings and some don't but all open beautifully. But after i got a deal too good to pass up on the Rake i started to like some assist knives again but i think i will always love the simplicity of a true manual flipper
i would love to see a 0770 style with KVT and tip down carry option but this knife will probably always mean a lot as my first high end knife

oh one quick question. I noticed the 566 and a couple other ZTs appear to use the same pocket clip(please correct me if i am wrong. If i want to upgrade to a different aftermarket clip it would be helpful to know which ZT knives use the same clip.

Nice starter:thumbup: Starter means more to come. Start saving:)

next on my list is either a Reate Horizon A or a Benchmade i havnt settled on which model benchmade i want but I am pretty sure it will be a D2 steel. I really like the CPM-D2 on my kershaw rake composite blade but i may change my mind depending on how much i like the M390 steel on my 0770

I put a titanium pocket clip and screws on the Elmax blade that i recently purchased. Since I purchased my Zt0350 last year I am now on my tenth ZT.

That knife flips very well when deassisted. The centering is a little off but im waiting on my return email about an additional washer to help balance it out. If the assist is the only thing holding you back then get one and deassist it, you will be happy with it. I only wish the handle was a little larger. It feels a little small in my hands.

when you bought this clip was it listed for the 0770 or for a different ZT model? ive seen lots of clips for various other models but havnt had much luck finding one specifically for the 0770
I do like the deeper carry your clip appears to offer

I really wish companies would use the same screw spacing on all their clips when possible, obviously some designs might require different spacing or a vertical screw set up but for most knives it seems they could use the same spacing, they could still change the looks of clips to better suit a certain model while still allowing for them to be interchangeable. This appears to be the case with some ZT models but i dont know which ones are interchangeable with the ZT....perhaps i should start a thread dedicated to that question as im sure others probably have wondered that as well

After de-assisting mine for a bit, I had to put the torsion bar back in. The knife flipped great but the detent was too weak to keep the blade closed. I love manual folders but I don't mind running my 0770 with the Speedsafe if it means it won't open in my pocket.

does anyone know how many of the M390 were made?
I havn't been able to find any info on this....well at least none i could confirm

566, 770 and 801 use the same clip
560, and 2nd gen+ 550 use same clip
550 1st gen, 300, 350, 200, 700 and most other older models use same clip
