Okay so im giving in, ive broken down and im buying a 0350. But the problem is the blade. I don't have sharpening rods, only stones, so sharpening the recurve would be difficult. Should i opt for the partially serrated so i can avoid the recurve? I hate partially serrated but i cut alot of rope and straps so it may be useful. What are your opinions?

Thanks,
Chris

I have a 350 serrated. I used to like partially serrated knives until I learned a little more about sharpening. If all you use the serrated part is rope and straps, I suppose that won't be an issue but you'll still have to sharpen it at some point, right? Then you'd have to get something to sharpen that serrated part as well.

If you have regular stones (not diamond steel plates), couldn't you use the edges for the recurved portion if you got the non-serrated version? That's what I would do.

Dont get serrated if you dont like it! It will stay sharp for some time right out of the box. You can sharpen the recurve on your stone if you are willing to slightly round off one of the long edges of the stone. You can do this with a coarser stone. This makes that edge almost like a rod.

this is just me so get what you want. i have no use for serrations unless iam cutting bread, nor do i see the logic behind a recurve blade.my sharp blades have cut thru all that i asked them too, without a recurve or serrations. they do look wicked and i would not care to be on the wrong end of one but for what i ask my knife to do they are not only not needed but in the way

For less than $60 you can pick up a Sharpmaker and take care of all the recurves you care to and do quick touch ups. Will also do those serrations if you go that route. Good luck wither way.

You could always send it in to ZT. They do sharpen for free...
