Steel rose! :D

For my first it didn't turn out half bad.

I need to order a big oxy propane torch though. The cost of oxygen for this is $20 but with a real torch it would only be $2 . Time to penny up for some good tools. :)

Thanks fellas, the pictures don't do it justice though. Its a surprise for a young lady I'm taking to the movies once she is back from Australia. :D

Dave, The ball under the petals is forge welded on, then the parts are stacked and the top of the stem is pined down to hold everything is place. The parts start off as these:

I used the petal making instructions from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Py9XEBT9No and took the ball/pining from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kkw6QNzrkP0&feature=related

I do believe she will Sam. I wonder how hard it would be to make a miniature rose bud out of silver for a necklace... hmmm

Cool Dan, I make those too. I like to crazy glue a piece of black velvet over the riveted tenon inside and then soak that with rose oil. People think they are joking when they smell it, and then their eyebrows shoot up. They make good wedding presents.

Mark, I thought about doing that but it would be almost impossible to properly polish the damascus once its formed.

Salem, that's a brilliant idea!
