The 15" AK is a fine khuk to start out with:) You'll find it's going to handle quite a bit differently from a BM or the like. The weight is going to be more forward, the edge is going to be thicker (probably..depends on who made it), and it's probably going to feel more "alive" than any other knife you have handled. Not because of the balance or any handling characteristics, but because it's probably the most organic blade you'll ever get your hands on. From leaf spring, to forge, to dirt floor anvil, untold generations of father to son techniques went into crafting that blade.

Enjoy it :)

My first HI a couple of decades back was a 15" AK. I'm still carrying that one with me in my vehicle and using it.

Good starting choice.

Looking forward to hearing your reactions.

While a khuk forged from leaf spring may not possess the magical properties of an INFI blade, it won't set you back quite so much either.

P.S.: I too started with the 15" AK.

6-7 khuks and many other HI blades later....
