Some folks might remember me posting earlier this year about the arrival of my Kabar mill spec. Note that when the sickness got hold of me I made sure this knife was gonna be the first in my collection.

It arrived finally and way exceeded my expectations, it was either on me or in my truck everyday, everywhere.

I dispatched game with, processed game with it, opened cans of food with it, used it as my sole kitchen knife, farm tool etc.

I got so wrapped up in it I stopped looking at the forums and knife sites for new knives because I forgot I was meant to be starting a collection and just used my Kabar everyday and never thought about or needed any others knives.

So anyhoo this kid needed to feed out some round bales and had been annoying me for weeks to carry my Kabar....everything in me said no never let this young idiot carry my Kabar, he's too young and dumb....but I relented and borrowed the kid my knife - he was well aware of how I would feel if it went missing. Very well aware in fact.

Long story short many round bales were fed out, a quad, a tractor and two vehicles were involved and my fuk!ng knife got lost.

Two days searching and I concede it's gone.

Yeah I know it's a low priced, easy available mass production knife I get that....still it was my knife and didn't deserve to go out like that.

Sucks bros.

Man that sucks.
We all hate to loose things even if they can be easily replaced.
I can't remember what it was but I lost something I was easily able to replace , I was upset but have had the replacement longer now and came even remember what it was. Probably learned something the first time around.

If you find it or replace it, maybe buy a cheap Mora companion to loan if you ever need to loan a knife out.

Yeah man true that. Wasn't so much the kid had no knives or tools, he had to carry my Kabar because he had to carry my Kabar.

Kid is as dumb as me and starting to show early symptoms of the sickness, hard to be angry.

Going to keep a slot in my collection blank to honour where this knife would have been.

Can't get another Kabar right now, might replace it with a Buck 210. Not the same idea but still.

Too bad you lost your knife. On the plus side, it sounds like it was a relatively recent addition, not a family heirloom thus easily replaceable, should you so desire. Still sucks in any event.

You are not 'meant to to start a collection.' In fact having a sound interest in knives and using them is more than reason enough for being on BF.
You did okay apart from one thing:

I dispatched game with, processed game with it, opened cans of food with it, used it as my sole kitchen knife, farm tool etc.
Sounds unsanitary.
Im an avid hunter but wouldnt recommend doing that with any knife. In this case especially due to the leather washer construction of the KaBar.

Did you mean buck 120? I may have one with a 5160 blade no longer in use I can try and get you a good deal on.

And is the kabar mil spec the standard USMC, just calling it something different?

I don't have PayPal and all that set up yet so just buy retail. Will sort that out eventually so I get some of the great stuff offered here.

The Kabar is 1150 IIRC???

USMC with the stacked leather handle and leather sheath carbon steel blade.

I feel your pain bro! Last week I realized I lost my smoke pipe crimpers I’ve had them since I started in the trade. Around 40 years. I bought a new pair and they are so much nicer to use than the old ones.

To have loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all.

My worries in your case are more about when will this rogue KABAR be found? I hope nobody gets hurt. Is it in a hay bail? Laying on the ground somewhere?

Not everyone needs paypal. USPS money orders are not uncommon, just be up front with it.

Very real problem.

Dare I say it;

It's literally like looking for a Kabar in a stack of haystacks.

LOL! I’m glad your sense of humor is still alive.

I hope it turns up in a safe manner. In this case finding it might be worse than never finding it.

Buy one of those magnet sweeps to pull behind your quad or truck.

Sucks man... don't give up. It's somewhere.

Good news! I found my crimpers today! Don’t give up hope on your KA-BAR

I only let people use my knife if they are family and are using it my presence.

6-7 months ago I was in the car at the cemetery, wasn't walking much at that point. My mom borrowed my TSF Beast to cut flowers. Didn't think about it, then we were out to dinner when I remembered. She left it at the cemetery, and it was closed. Fortunately, it was still there the next day. Nearly a $300 dollar mistake. I was still using a walker, so couldn't get up the hill to the graves.

Yes, I was using a walker and still carried a knife. Don't judge me!

Judging; you should have multiple knives and at least one smatchet strategically mounted on your walker.

Why would I judge?
I'm using a Rollator (4 wheeled walker) and still keep a Buck 110 on my belt and either a Remington Canoe or an Ulster Barlow in my pocket.
Just 'cause I can't walk much worth a daRn no more don't mean I don't need a cutting/slicing tool once inna while. :)
