I have wanted a Bishop for a very very very long time. I have even tried avoiding having them in our store because I have always known if it did not sell quick, I would have to keep it. Well a couple of weeks ago, when I went to visit Fiddleback, I knew I was borrowing trouble when I took one of the Bishops back with me to the store. I figured I was safe since it was Burlap and I wanted wanted Micarta scales. I hoped it would sell in a couple days and would not sit here staring at me, telling me I need one. Everyday I have come in the shop and picked it up, oiled it and tried not to drool on it. Finally last week I cracked, called Phillip, and said I need more of these for the shop plus one for me. I figured the chances of getting one soon were slim and none. Low and behold Phillip said, we have a Micarta one about ready to go. My only response was "Ship it Now!!!"
So a little over a week later it has arrived at the post office. I knew it was coming this morning, but Kevin went to the PO box and there was nothing. The shop was busy but eventually I got in touch with Phillip who gave me tracking. By damn it showed it arrived early this morning. My always perfect post office picked today to make the rare mistake. I drove back up and asked them to check for packages, son of a bitch, I had 3. I took my boxes, including the one from Fiddleback, and went back to the shop. I walked in and we had too many customers. I sat the box down and spent the rest of the day working with customers and getting daily operations done. This one was too special. This one needed to be opened right. At 6:00 we ran our last customer out of the store. My staff and I sat down to a drink and I slowly opened my precious Bishop. It is everything I had been waiting on and wanted. Bonus, it also came in time for my trip to the mountains.
Tonight I came back to the shop and took my sweet time making a Kydex sheath for it. I am still learning on Kydex, but I must say it is my best sheath yet.
Thank you to Andy for making a sweet knife and thank you to Phillip for getting it too me in short time! You guys are awesome! I plan to use her well and share lots and lots of pics!
Sorry for the long story but I figure if anyone could appreciate it, it would be you guys!
