My Flying Badger arrived on Fri. 9 weeks early! Not bad, huh? It was 3 weeks from the day that I ordered it to the BTOJ handing it to me. Now that's pretty nuclear.

I had ordered it with tan micarta handles and it arrived wearing cammo micarta. Since it wasn't what I was expecting I emailed Jerry on fri telling him I wanted to send it in to get the tan micarta. WHOOPS! I jumped the gun on that email 'cause the cammo micarta has GROWN on me over the weekend and now I've decided to keep the FBA as it is. I'm just not a cammo kind of guy, but this stuff doesn't really look cammo to me it looks at first glance kinda like snake skin, it's cool. And it's different on each side of the knife too.

I showed it to 2 friends this weekend to see what they thought of the look and one of them was the first to point out the snake skin resemblance and the other one told me to send it back 'cause he was going to call Busse and ask for these scales off of my knife to be put on one for him. So I got some very positive feedback on it.

Enough with the Micarta though. This blade ROCKS! The plain edge is the sharpest Busse I've had yet (and mine have ALL shaved hair on arrival) but the plain edged portion of this knife I would DEFINITELY describe as hair popping sharp! There are 6 big serrations above and below. The bottom row of teeth are slanted forward for maximum aid in penetration. The sharpened top edge is 2.7" And it has the very cool BAT tip which gives it not only avery strong tip but a very distinctive and impressive look. The pics and scans don't show the beautiful grind lines that the BAT combined with the deep dish hollow grind of the top clip produces on the blade side away from the serrations. The point is almost shaped like a pyramid! It is really very impressive. DN I think I know now how you feel about your Bad Apple. I love everything about this knife. This will be the one that I pass down to my son some day when he grows up.

Here are some scans of it with some of my other carry pieces for size comparison. Sorry about the quality, but I just don't understand the digital camera thing, I mean technically, couldn't that money have been spent on knives???

Well, apparently I can't get those scans to post. I thought I could post them from MSN photos. If anyone knows how to post on BF from there I'd appreciate the help

UTMTS-

Thanks for providing feedback to the group. Your scans couldn't been seen, though. Could you try re-posting the link?

Thanks,

Thanks for the mini-review, let us know how it does once you have a chance to really use it :D:D

If you have trouble with the scans or digital pics send them to me and I'll post them for you. e_isaacs@bellsouth.net

Hunter,

I have to agree with you on this. Everyone in the shop refers to this as "Snake Skin" Micarta as well. Sorry about the mix-up on the micarta. . . . it just looks so darn cool on a black knife. . . and on a satin finished knife. . . .and on a double-cut finished knife. . . and on a mud covered knife. . . and on a . . . well. . you get the idea.

Yours in Snake Skin Nucarta!

Jerry
