Really nice work on that. There's no such thing as overbuilt, least not in my shop. Hell, I'd like to use the top of my forge as an anvil and eliminate all the stepping back and forth:D
Seriously though, thats a well thought out and very well executed design. I'm sure you'll be seeing copies pop up around here before too long.
 
Now take that handle, put a 90 deg bend to the left, and it will be less in the way of the heat?

Thanks for the idea, I dont know about the heat but at least it'll keep me from poking my eye out like I almost did a couple of times. ;)

I'm 90 minutes from Montreal. I try to make it up there a few times a year. Incidentally, my better half is from Maine, and we usually get up there for a visit with her family once or twice a year as well.
 
There is no such thing as overengineering :P

By definition, an engineer is someone that takes something that works perfectly, and try to improve it ;)
 
Jeff, I would like to post results. Any idea of something I could heat that would tell people something. I dont have any heat measuring devices. What parameters would give a way for people to compare the performance? I don't know if this makes sense? :(
